Spike's Bitches 38: Well, This Is Just...Neat.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

Huh. So the tight little suits serve some sort of purpose ?
To turn you on. Yes. Also they are kinda anti-fire. Cause of the whole "safety" thing.

Apropos of nothing except the word racing, I have a friend who drives a limo and he drove Mario Andretti Monday. He said he was afraid Andretti was thinking "You call this driving?"
::flails::

Did he lick him?

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

Trudy (and Cass) did you know that they make race car shaped chocolate thingies to put on top of your ice cream? Saw them in the grocery the other day.

Also - does anyone watch telenovelas? A new one started last night - Pasión. It's a historical ... which means there WILL be pirates!

oh joy! Oh Rapture ! I have a brain!

good news, our friend W is home.

Oddly, I feel like there is a message somewhere. Because another friend ended up in the hospital with what turned out not to be a heart attack. I think the message is slow down, relax and if something is fun, take the time to enjoy it.

No! I did not know that. Just in the general grocery store? I must have those!

Snackable race cars!

Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

I mentioned the "pirate shepherd" thing on another board and got the following response:

And there were in the same country pirate shepherds, abiding in the crow’s nest, keeping watch over their ship by night. And lo, the pirate angel of the Lord appeared before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they said, “Arrrrrrrrr!,” for they were sore afraid. And the pirate angel said unto them, “Avast me hearties! Fear not, for I bring ye tidings of great joy, which shall be to all: salty sea dogs and scallywags and wenches and bilge rats and landlubbers alike. For unto ye is born this day in yon City of David a savior, which is Christ the Lord.

I sent it to DH, and he responded with:

Suddenly a great company of the heavenly buccaneers appeared with the pirate angel, praising God and singing the sea shanty,
"Yo! Ho! Glory to God!
and on earth be peace on those he favors,
Yo Ho Ho and a bottle of rum!"

Brightened my bad day in a hurry.

Cass - saw the race car chocolate things at Safeway ... and if it's in my pitiful local one, they should be elsewhere.

Re the pirate shepherd - Susan, I'm actually surprised she doesn't want to be a highwayman shepherd, considering your era of choice.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Those are great!

Go ahead, Stephanie, have your baby on its due date rather than waiting to share my birthday. I won't hold it against the tyke.

She doesn't know from highwaymen yet--she's just into pirates because they tend to show up on kids' shows. So, extrapolating from the Backyardigans, Dora, and Between the Lions, to her 18th century clothes are pirate attire, period. (Except, occasionally, when someone is a king or queen.) AFAICT from her comments on my illustrated research books, she thinks that's what Mommy reads and writes about. Pirates and queens.
