Fantasies, yay!
Well, yes - but what I mean in this case is that it's probably not particularly good to be thinking 'Hey! She's single! And we had this whole stupid unconsumated romance thing full of poetry and romantic walks and handholding and all that crap! And I've always had a soft spot for her, and kicked myself for 'doing the decent thing' and trying to not take advantage of her when she was vulnerable and blah blah blah regret cakes, and maybe I should go up to Scotland and we could live happily ever after as Big Gay Lovers and I'd help raise her children! Yeah!'
Because, you know, I'm making my own life - and hers, more to the point - into bad fanfic.

Hm, well yes, maybe. But hey, I'd still read it!
Cobbler?
Cobbler would have a sort of a crust I think.
I'd call it special apple sauce!
Pealed and cut up the apples, dumped 'em in a pot with the berries, a bit of water, a nice glob of honey, and a splash of lemon juice. Is this fruit soup or cheesecake topping?
Wouldn't it be a compote?
I say compote, but it would make an awesome cobbler if you added a crust.
Wouldn't it be a compote?
That's the word I was looking for!!! at any rate, muy delicioso!
I make a super easy applesauce with peeled & cut up apples (say about 7 or so), 1 cup of sparkling cider, 1 cup-ish of dried cranberries, and about a tablespoon of lemon juice. All cooked up until the apples are whatever consistency you like. so good!
Is the question what it is, or what you should use it for? I vote ice cream topping. Or make biscuits and make it a fruit shortcake kind of thing.
{{Fay}} Maybe if you write out the RPF indulgently it'll take up less brainspace?
Waiting and unpacking~ma, Sparky! I wish you better luck than I had.
I think vw is right with calling it compote. Though I have seen fruit soup on fancy menus.
I vote ice cream topping.
This is what we used it for at Thanksgiving. One of the pies we made from scratch (a triple berry/cherry pie...mmmmmmm!) had too much filling for the pie plate, so we just baked it and put it on ice cream. My aunt kept asking what it was and wouldn't take "compote" as an answer, because she'd never heard the word. So, finally, my SIL went and got the dictionary and read her the definition. That shut her up.
