Spike's Bitches 38: Well, This Is Just...Neat.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Yup, that was me, Sean. I've been a mostly-lurker on slacktivist since June '05, when SusanW posted a link (possibly right here in Bitches, though maybe Natter) to this post, which caused me to laugh like a drain and a printout of which has lived on my bulletin board at work ever since.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

VW, if you're comfortable, I'll send you a few links that might be important to read before you send off the reflections. And I have some thoughts/observations/suggestions, but I am on my way out the door, so I'll try to get to them tonight.

Actually, one I'll post one of the links right here: [link]

Which addresses your point here

I think she was trying to say that African Americans would perceive that we must from be a privileged background, because we are white, educated, well-spoken, good writers, etc. I think. And I can get that. But, well, I think it's still a dangerous place to go when you don't know the backgrounds of everyone in the room.

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

I guess because of the no liquid thing, but I thought that's why they had the duty free shops-so they could wrap it up and seal it so you can carry it on the plane.

Or is it the idea that I like that stuff at all that's freaking you out?

Our wings are not tired

Wow. I'm on the flight now and the plane is half empty. What are the chances of that at this time of year.

Of course. Thank you.

And just to be clear, I'm not arguing that white privilege doesn't exist. Not even close.

Good flight, ND!

I'd been directed to his blog (by Susan) before, and occasionally tried to keep up with the Left Behind Fridays, but it's really caught my interest of late, and ever since Susan's last linkage to his blog, I've been mainlining the whole thing. Seriously, I've been going backwards through the archives one week at a time, and now keeping up on current posts and comments, which is how I wound up posting on that Santorum thread.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

Ah. It doesn't really sound like that out loud. Though I've been searching for it here, and it looks like you can get it in parts of Ohio and New York, only it's called Zwack which is the company that makes it.

I get that, but I think for constructive wording to the teacher, you need to make that clearer up front.
