Spike's Bitches 38: Well, This Is Just...Neat.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Now tagless for your comfort.

She tucks them in, says, "G'night Ba-man. G'night Soopman."

And then she makes them kiss each other.

Woot! You and Joe must be so proud!

JZ's interview went very well. They did the little dance of "benefits and a tour" which often indicates an impending offer.

Yay! Offer ~ma for JZ!

Home from SFO. K-Bug is on her way to Boston. TOO MUCH DRAMA at the airport, but she finally got a seat on the plane and I am not in jail. Tis good.

Egads. I'm glad it ended well with no incarceration. Airport jail sucks.

now I'll just be a wreak until I hear from her or vw that they have found eachother in the am.

I'm glad vw's meeting her in Boston. I hope she enjoys her trip.

I went to bed before 10 last night and the kids both slept through the entire night! *knocks wood*

Back tattoos of the mother is that you are absolutely right - Ame

Got a text that she landed ok, so part of the "mama-bear alert system" has been calmed.

I will be dark until late tomorrow. Taking mom up to Sacramento for some more surgery. She is ok, this is to remove her dialysis access - so a good reason, but still - surgery. Since I'm done with school, I don't HAVE to take the laptop, so I'm going to leave it at home. I'm already having withdrawls.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Do I gain or lose geek points for noticing that I always skip over these 4 digits when reciting Pi?

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

Gain for noticing, lose for skipping, gain back for worrying about the question.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

I have a question for Jilli, regarding goths on reality tv:

On this season of The Amazing Race, there is a team of dating goths (Kynt and Vyxin). They incorporate some pink into their goth-wear, Vyxin's hair is dyed pink, and are generally, what I feel to be kind of perkygoth types. Reading the recaps on TWOP, there are some comments that they are more Hello Kitty than goth... but, whatever. There's many flavors of goth, yes?

(I feel like I'm writing to the Lady of the Manners)

Have you seen TAR or heard of these folks on it?

Here's the kind of thing I'm referring to, from Miss Alli's recap:

Kent (sorry, I don't type the star in Macy*s, typically, and I'm not typing your cutesy thingamajig naming conventions, kiddo) says that Goth is a "celebration of beauty, art..." This is where I have to credit the EEFP who noted that there is no celebrating in Goth. That's what makes it Goth. It kind of seems like "Goth" is over here, and "Whee!" is over there, and never the twain shall meet. I'm sure it's very genuine to them, but I just want you to understand, if you haven't seen them and want to picture it, that this is not Goth the way you probably imagine it or, I believe, the way many, many people who consider themselves Goth imagine it.

.....................

And along here, Kent busts out the expression "Oh my Goth," which, again, is something that doesn't strike me as a particularly Goth thing to do. Of all the things I've ever seen and/or been exposed to about Goth kids, "affinity for corny puns about being Goth" has never been one of the main traits. (All of a sudden, I really want to see a long scene between Paul Rudd and Seth Rogen, called, "You Know How I Know You're Goth?")

Just wondering what your take might be. Or any other gothy folks reading. I'm sort of annoyed at her assumptions.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Hmmm, I smell either a lengthy post on TWOP or a new Gothic Charm School column in the near future (or possibly, if Jilli's too harried for that, just an icily but politely worded email to the recapper bristling with links to GCS columns past).

Because I am completely memememe: One interview down, one to go. Yesterday's was so very good. I've never had an interview like that. The architect I'd be assisting, the research guy I'd be assisting, the head of HR. "Our benefits package, let us show you it." A personal tour of the entire 2-floor suite by the architect. Laughing and genuinely fun questions and getting compliments on my gmail address. It sounds fun and challenging and creative and interesting, and it's for people who design hospitals and universities. How much more good and honorable can you get while still drawing a corporate-level salary?

And another interview this afternoon, possibly for stuff just as good.

Please. Please. Please.
