Boo for Seattle traffic. I left work at 4:30. I got home at 6:30. Granted, I had to spend ten minutes getting AB's class pictures at daycare and then we did our weekly library run, which took about 15 minutes, but it took me almost an hour and a half from leaving the office to picking up Annabel. Total distance is something under ten miles, and I expect it to take 30-45 minutes, including time waiting for the bus. But this time the bus itself was late, so I spent 20 minutes standing in the rain, and then traffic was nightmarish.
Today was the worst, but it's been this way ever since we switched to PST. WTF? Why does the traffic get so much worse when it's dark at 5:00? I mean, this happens every year.

He seems to be acting fine. He might be a little lethargic, but that's it. He never yelps or complains, but he's started trying to escape me, so I think the effort to gently press out some fluid is getting to him. I wasn't too worried, because I had a cat who was always getting abscesses. The abscess is right next to the scar, so I'm wondering if this is related. He was also with a lot of other dogs and cats, so there may have been a scratch. He's pretty safe from rubbing his face into anything nastier than my housekeeping, and he can't lick it.
Poor pup! Non-squeezy hugs to you and... what name did you settle on, anyway?
It's perfect for him! Give him an extra congratulations squeeze for finding such an awesome human.
wow Susan, you took all the wind out of my grumbly commute, and mine included almost hitting a motorcycle cop.
I'm home now. Safe & sound. And I somehow managed to kick off my shoes & over-launching one deep under the bed into the land of dust bunnies. eeeew.
wow Susan, you took all the wind out of my grumbly commute, and mine included almost hitting a motorcycle cop.
I'm glad that "almost" is in there!
I just saved all my venting until my post. I patiently read my book (a bio of Marco Polo) on the bus, and didn't even swear when I had to wait through multiple cycles of a light on the way from the park & ride to daycare.
well, glad you got a good letter from the boss, Susan. and sorry for the bad commutes.
I grew up with reading and math groups. I never did understand why I wasn't in the first reading group. Math was easy to see, but reading was harder. I never could spell.
I don't have rodents in the house.
My meara, let me show you it.
Plei, I'm so sorry to hear about your aunt.
Tell me I'm being too sensitive and to focus on what's important.
I’m not going to tell you that you’re being too sensitive. You’re under huge amounts of pressure, hon. Hang in there. {{{Sox}}}
Susan, that’s great news about the email from your boss.
KT, sorry I missed the snuggle-fest with you last night, I offer a belated version. How long is ND away for? Ya need some company Friday-Sunday?
Omnis, he comes back Sunday morning. And yeah, I might be up for something on Saturday. Let’s chat soon.
I have a second interview today at 2:00, and a different second interview for a different job tomorrow at 1:30. GAH.
WOOT! Go, JZ! Job~ma! Please keep us posted.
Like everyone in SoCal, we have roof rats who live in the trees outside.
ACK! Okay, I wish I didn’t know that.
Which is to say, your teachers may have been not so much trying to crush your spirit and make you conform as not have worked out how to deal with extra needs. Or, you know, they may have been all "It works for everybody else, kiddo, so shut up and deal!" Quite possible, really.
Emily is really right. I try to differentiate, but sometimes I just can’t. I tend to use the “offer assignments that can be taken to different levels” approach. It’s easiest.
I feel like if someone on our end had returned one of these phone calls a few days ago to explain the delay things wouldn't have escalated. But, no one else was dealing with these phone calls. Just me. They called 3 times yesterday and were almost yelling. It's a very upsetting position to be put in. And I've been trying to be as honest as possible, without being too honest but all that did was have the company stop just short of calling me a liar.
Askye, I’m so sorry you had such a crap day. Bosses being stupid and causing unnecessary problems seems to be in vogue this week.
Oh grand. My landlord thinks it was probably a roof rat. Which means there are probably RATS IN MY ATTIC.
Ack! More rats! No more rats!
THE CAR IS IN MY NAME!!!!!!!!!!!
Congrats, vw!
Happy Birthday, sumi!
My dog seems to have an abscess. I've only had him five days and I've already broken him.
Aw, Ginger, the poor pup! So not your fault, though. He’s a lucky pup to have you. Cute name, too!
Sorry about the traffic, Susan and Omnis. My commute home sucked, too.
My day sucked a lot, but I just don’t have the energy to write about it right now.
Long ago, Joe gave Em his Superman "doll". Not action figure - this is mostly cloth.
For her 1st birthday, Sean and S gave her a Batman "doll".
These have been her two favorite toys lately and she has been taking them to bed with her.
She tucks them in, says, "G'night Ba-man. G'night Soopman."
And then she makes them kiss each other.
