Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Somebody who works for one of our clients once billed one of their clients for working 24 hours a day, 5 days a week, every week for a year. (Of course, he was only working 8 hours a day.) When their client finally figured it out, he just said, "I'm worth it."

Hey. New board.

I didn't know Erin was coming to NYC! Is there an NYCistas mailing list? Can we make one?

I assume its for the NCTE conference?

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

I'm sorry, Connie. It sounds like your cat had a good life and was able to leave it gently.

I had some trouble with the social thing in Year 7 (new school too), but on the whole I reckon I would've gone nuts staying in the lower class.

My mother talked me into kindergarten a little early, back when public schools have more discretion than they do now. Her rationale: "You were already reading. You would have driven me crazy." I then went off to college after my junior year of high school. I was woefully behind socially, but considering that that senior year would have been another year in a terrible South Georgia high school that was probably built on a hellmouth, I don't think I could have gotten more socialized or better prepared in that year.

I hope it turns out to be a good trip, Erin.

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

I'm sure it will be; I AM a good traveler. It's just that today was le crazy at work, and getting ready to go on a trip without a car to do all those last minute things that stress you out anyway is making me cranky(er).

Gris, yes. I will be in NYC for NCTE tomorrow afternoon through Sunday morning. I AM looking forward to it, despite all my bitching and moaning. I suspect I will be much more sanguine when I am sitting on my ass in the airport, drinking coffee and reading.

I wish I had a new book. I bet I can pick one up at the airport tomorrow. I am IN tonight, and I am not leaving!

Hey. New board.

Well... awesome, Erin. I'm seeing a play Friday night, but I bet I'm free after that, if there's a party. I wish I knew more... any... NYCistas. Trudy and I tried to get together once, but it never happened.

Trudy and I wish be...uh...somewhere in New York. A place. With people. West Village? West Side? West Holllywood? She has to leave for freakin Canada at 1 a.m., so I don't think we'll be out terribly late.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Trudy is West Side, I'm pretty sure.

Hey. New board.

I can access both the West Side and the West Village. I don't think West Hollywood is here, or if it is, it's the blinvisible neighborhood. SPP! Send me an e-mail! I'll come find you at some point and say hello, perhaps.

Seriously, though, who do I go to to found an NYCistas mailing list? I know there are some of us, but I've been here 2+ years and have met exactly zero of them. The one time I met Buffistas in NYC, it was Hil and DebetEsse, neither of whom are here now. I think.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Can I get wear PJ's around NY all weekend? Please? Between bag and jacket, I'm seriously thinking about calling off my all-nighter with Trudy and just catching dinner and heading back to the hotel. It means I will leave my hotel room at 7 a.m. on Friday and not be able to return to my hotel room till about 11 p.m. Sat. night, and this is kinda making me nuts.

We'll figure out whatever works for you. There is likely a pretty late bus back to your hotel, for example. If you have the address for the thing I can check.
