sj, could you maybe cheer her up by telling her you're setting aside the money so that she can use it to visit for (insert next holiday/birthday event here) and give her something to plan for and look forward to?
She knows it's an open offer, but she doesn't have any PTO from work right now, so she can't really get away very easily. I'm planning on going up there in March. Maybe she'll be able to come out here for an engagement party or a shower. I know that not being here to help with wedding stuff is part of the reason she's upset, which I feel bad about.
