Yes. Men like sports. Men watch the action movie, they eat of the beef, and enjoy to look at the bosoms. A thousand years of avenging our wrongs and that's all you've learned?

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Sox, much ~ma to your DH

So jealous of all the SF fun.

Has anyone here tried drying herbs in the oven? I did some googling and we're giving in a try, but I wanted to know if anyone here has any advice.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

sj, I dried bunches of lavender in an oven, but that was many, MANY years ago. Er, in England. In my friend's stove.

....but it worked!

Okay, that wasn't helpful. What are you drying?

Our wings are not tired.

I haven't tried it sj, but I'll bet the house will smell great.

I do it. Lowest setting you can manage (200?), check frequently (every 5-10 minutes) - it's easy to burn them. Goes faster than you think. Spread them thinly on a baking sheet.

Thyme, oregano, and sage, all from Nora's garden. We've used a good amount of them, but there is still some left, and it seems a shame to waste it, so I figured I would give this a try.

It does, as do my hands after arranging everything on the baking sheets.

I have the oven on 180, and the internet said it can take 2-3 hours, is that wrong? How do I know when they're done?

Oo, drying herbs must smell wonderful. I have some cilantro and basil that have become too withered to eat...maybe I should do the same. How do you store them afterwards?

JZ, your stories make me want to teleport to SF to hang out with you all and spoil Matilda rotten. We do have a couple of great tea houses up here, though, and you're making me really crave them.

In cute news, I've typed all of this flopped in bed with a purring black kitten curled up on my chest. He keeps feeling the need to readjust so that he's as close as possible to my neck and face. He's getting so big that this trick isn't going to work too much longer, though. As it is, he barely fits. He is going to be a big, lanky cat. Such a friendly little love, though. He loves the peoples.

The internet said an airtight container, but I'm going for ziploc bags.

The thyme and the oregano seem to be done, but the sage leaves are huge, so I am going to give them a little longer to dry.

How did I just spend a brazillino dollars stocking up my new kitchen, and there is nothing for breakfast? Sigh.

Guess that means I have to go check out the doughnut store a few blocks away.

It would help if I got out of bed and showered and dressed, though. Hrm.

Yay, wireless?
