hip deep in pie

I had a horrible night of tummy woes, and I'm not sure I slept for an hour at a time. Of course, how completely tired and wasted I am didn't hit me until I came to work, and now I'm wondering what I'm doing here.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

I am going to consider losing my shit if the comparisons to Hurricane Katrina don't stop. I know the media has to talk about something, but how does it possibly do anyone any good to compare the situations?

"The people at Qualcomm Stadium are so much better off than the people in the Superdome were!"

Wow. I'm sure that's a great comfort to all involved. Your homes might burn down, but at least the 10,000 people sleeping in the football stadium are all getting along!

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Apparently the Bush Administration is all, "We're gonna show people we can actually respond competently to a disaster, unlike that Katrina thing." So apparently it's a comparison they're encouraging. Dunno how much that's behind all the comparisons in the media though.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

These posts one after another made me laugh:

I baked a dozen blueberry muffins last night, but there is only 1.5 left now. How did that happen?

Baby sloths!

Also (because the transition from baby sloths to puking dog is not funny)

Number of days it took the dog to puke all over the new carpet: 3. Number of times she's puked in the last year up to this point: 0.

Could it be an allergic reaction, Brenda? I get pretty sick from the offgassing of new carpet, probably mainly from the formaldehyde.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Huh, I wonder. She has been spending a lot of time on it. How quickly does that pass, do you think?

I look more rad than Lutheranism

Check out these cool tiles!

I like the microbus one! (Well, I say that only b/c The Boy is a microbus fan, having owned 3 consecutive microbuses back in the day, and his birthday is in 3-ish weeks and I had no idea what to get him, but this is a cool idea!)

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Yeah, I have to say The Unit is much less fun than it used to be, and I see it dropping off my season pass list pretty soon.

My TiVo hates F/X. Second week in a row it's failed to grab Damages.

For me, about two weeks. You could try increasing the air circulation.

Of course, it could just be that she's trying to tell you that she hates the carpet.
