Yeah, emotionally, everyone can be equal. If it is one album and 500 sq ft or a harddrive and 5000 sq ft, it's a big loss.
Fire panics me that way. Around here, it's basically hurricanes, and low risk ones at that. But random fire is my worst fear.

The evening news is comparing the SoCal fires to Katrina in terms of evacuees etc. But I'm betting no one will argue against rebuilding the neighborhoods that are in fire-prone areas. 'Cause those people have money.
Gee, you are so comforting. My parents, in their 70's, and one mostly in a wheelchair are in the path of the fire. I feel so much better that since they have money it will all be okay.
But that's not what she said at all.
I'm sorry your parents are in a terrible position. I'm sure everybody here is. Fortunately, they're also in a position where the government gives a fuck about them.
I'll keep that in mind.
Connie, I know you didn't mean to imply that the people in danger or who have lost their homes are less important. We're just a bit defensive given our personal connections out here.

Too late. Already happened.

I'll remember that when my husband is up all night because he's afraid to go to sleep because he's remembering hearing fellow firefighters die and doesn't want to have those nightmares again. "I've fought a Magic Creek fire." He said that twenty minutes ago.
Shall we leave the personal connections alone now?
Glad to hear we are all fucked.
No one implied you don't have personal connections, Connie.
goodnight.
Dear god, I just spent 20 minutes convincing the cat to eat reglan-laced tuna. It's the one sure-fire treat she'll eat, but even then, I have to sit next to her to keep her from being distracted. Oy.
