Early: So is it still her room when it's empty? Does the room, the thing, have purpose? Or do we -- what's the word? Simon: I really can't help you. Early: The plan is to take your sister. Get the reward, which is substantial. 'Imbue.' That's the word.

The world is a weird place. My brother was IM'd me about it this morning at 5am (4am his time) as I was getting up and he was going to bed.

So funny that I would hear about it twice in one day and also funny that my brother and I are both adults with daytime jobs but he goes to bed as I get up.

It is incredibly quiet in my office. Probably 3/4 of the people are not here. You would think this would give me the opportunity to write this thing I need to get written. And yet? NSM.

Are you asking for motivation like "You can get that thing written Jesse! We believe in you! You the Woman!" or validation like "Hey, if they aren't there doing work how can they expect you to be slaving over the thing that needs writing."

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Whenever I read this, my first reaction is, "Did our Secretary of State do something naughty?"

Sadly, I don't think either would help at this point. But I appreciate the offer!

That site is sort of addictive. After a while, I was clicking things mostly on instinct. Still, 540 grains of rice is what - a mouthful? Maybe two?

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

The topic of the day on the DMN bogs is a new library, but is turning out to be about libraries in general. [link]

This strikes me as being completely ignorant of the function and value of a library.

A the risk of hurting Betsy's feelings, I absolutely do not use the public library, never have and never will. Not unless major changes are made to make the the libraries more of community meeting places and less focused on collections of books. I love books. But I think libraries, especially branch libraries, are a waste of space as they exist now. They duplicate effort with school libraries and rec centers. I think if we're going to have them, they need to be transformed into gathering places for all sorts of activities, combined with rec centers, perhaps, and focused more on multimedia.

Thoughts from buffista librarians.
