Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

I'll make soups and stews and the like and freeze them in baggies or small ziplock containers. One day of cooking in bulk, and I have enough prepacked frozen meals for a month of lunches.

I was just thinking today how I needed to do something like this. Not necessarily cook for a month, but do some bulk cooking over the weekends to have stuff to reheat for lunch and for days when I have evening plans, which means I have to leave before I can cook anything more complex than a hotdog or a frozen pizza, but DH can't cook for me because he gets home from work later than I do. A lot of the time it's tag-team--he walks in the door from work, and I kiss him as I head out to writers group or choir, babbling something about Annabel being upstairs with a book and pizza in the oven and I'll see him in a few hours. Anyway, I eat way too much prepackaged food and spend way too much $ in the cafeteria at work, so I need to figure out how to make healthy, appetizing things that stand up well to reheating.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

It was a 70's era Caddy.

Awesome.

Actually, I'm in the market for a new set. Went for something yesterday and realized...it's in New Mexico. We left our router and my toolbag and some assorted stuff in the workshop over there when we moved, because our friend (that we were abandoning in the middle of the desert) was working on their house there. And then they moved back to Chicago. But I'd forgotten all that stuff was still there. I suppose I could still go back and get it, but it seems awkward after a year. Hi, can I have my stuff now that you've been assuming we donated to you?

FNL: Dear writers and producers: WHAT THEY HELL ARE YOU DOING? THIS IS NOT MY SHOW AND THIS IS NOT NECESSARY. STOP IT.

oh joy! Oh Rapture ! I have a brain!

There are only two of us here- but I have a costso membership. we don't go often , but a 4 or 5 times a year. I buy some food, some wine, or scotch or stuff like that. Some cleaning stuff . sometimes books and dvd's . and then there are things like my electric carpet sweeper, ot office supplies and there are a bunch of clothing and linen basics there too. Out membership is 50.00 - I think it works out. favorite thing: Salmon -wild , frozen and individually vacuum packed. I can running water thaw it, or thaw it in the fridge. - Because it is vacuumed packed- If I don't use it today, tomorrow, or the next is ok.

ION, we watched two episodes of Pushing daisies. 1/2 thru the first ep I was willing to kill people that were annoing me - but i didn't wan to stop. by the end of the first, I turned on the second by the end of the second despite his horror of Hopelessly devoted Dh was wondering if there were more eps.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

I kind of love Costco. I should get a deep freeze, that'd be helpful. But so far, we often cook up the food long before thoughts of freezing occur.

But seriously, man, there's nothing better than blearily tumbling to the freezer, shaking out a pre-measured bag of ground beef, and firing up a super quick home cooked meal because you've got the stuff all lined up and don't really have to think about it. But still, home cooked!

This why I decided to try Sous Kitchen last month. Fun and relatively economical. Most importantly, no chopping. And makes me think about portion size, which is probably a good thing.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I am thinking I will get a Costco membership now that I have what seems like vast capacity for storage. I might get a freezer first. I aspire to be as planny and forward thinking as Liese, but I have not managed to be (at least not consistently) so far. But if I get mmyself the tools I can practice, right?

Nobody has white shoes advice?

CA white shoe advice . If it feels summery where white shoes. In other words - we may still get a week or two of hotter weather. If you are going to a more formal event ( as in business or high level social ladder people ) skip the white shoes. In Ct I never would have worn white shoes after labor day unless I was the bride.

What about white shoes with black ribbon accents? Same rules?

Yes, but as another former New Englander I really shouldn't be trusted to be objective on the white shoe rule--the training, it goes deep.
