hip deep in pie

I took the afternoon off to rest my seized up back. Which I was feeling a little guilty about until my chiropractor told me my back was more seized up than it was yesterday. Taking off tomorrow is looking pretty good.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Yikes, Sue! Rest up!

I wish I had more meetings cancelled. Instead, I have more meetings. Including one where, when I said I was free on whatever day until 4pm, the other person said, "OK, how about 3:30?" Um, sure.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

Attn. Internet Shoppers (I should really save this link for ita): New app called Polyvore looks like it will kick ass.

"In the equation E = mc⬧, c⬧ is a pretty big honking number." - Scola

As an example, there are signs all over the Metro saying that eating and drinking are prohibited - but people get on with food and drink (heaven forbid they should go without water for 15 minutes!) and frequently leave a mess for someone else to clean up.

I don't know if this is exactly about entitlement, or more about the organization having a different idea of acceptable use than the actual users.

I've been typing this post for 10 minutes and can't come up with how to say what I want to say, so, er, never mind.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Lessing not impressed by Nobel Prize:

[link]

Doris Lessing pulled up in a black cab where a media horde was waiting Thursday in front of her leafy north London home. Reporters opened the door and told her she had won the Nobel Prize for literature, to which she responded: "Oh Christ ... I couldn't care less."

Lessing brightened when a reporter asked whether the Nobel would generate interest in her work.

"I'm very pleased if I get some new readers," she said. "Yes, that's very nice, I hadn't thought of that."

Okay, then!

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

According to Reuters, she had a slightly different take on the Nobel Prize: "I've won all the prizes in Europe, every bloody one. I'm delighted to win them all, the whole lot," she told reporters outside her London home. "It's a royal flush."

Trust my rage

I haven't read any of her writing, but neither response makes me very intrested to see what she might have written.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I've only read a couple of Lessing things. One was for a Sci-fi class, I forget the title, it was okay. I picked up The Golden Notebook in a used bookstore on the strength of remembering her name from that class and the copy on the back cover being interesting. I have to give her technical kudos for creating, as a reviewer put it "structure like a diamond", but the story that it told and the truths it had to impart were not as impressive.
