Oh, my, the recurring murder victim thing is funny. Would that be something the IMDB character field would cover?

I once had a job telemarketing accidental death and dismemberment insurance.
Hah! Among the many many forms I was handed today was one about "AD&D" coverage. And they kept glossing over what that stood for, and finally I was like "So...this covers dismemberment too??"
Heh. The reason dismemberment is such a big part of insurance - its own special category - is because a lot of insurance practices started with pirates and sailors. Where dismemberment was the likeliest horrible thing you could survive.

If you can get hold of the actual specifics, you'll see that some digits are worth more than others!

That's what the HR guy said! Or rather, that based on which part was dismembered, you got different amounts of money. Which still cracks me up.
Sadly, that was pretty much the highlight of my day right there. Sigh.

You should have asked if the Ad&d coverage is still in effect if you get killed with a +6 Short Sword of Dragon Flame by an dark elf.
I remember loving how they explain over and over that you can only get paid for one dismemberment per limb, i.e., if you get the payout for the hand, you do not get payouts for all five fingers too.
Yeah, 'cuz you might lose your hand to injury, but if the fingers are intact they could attach them to your wrist.
(My brain works weirdly at times, but you all know that....)

At least they pay for the costliest--er--member.

"I'm sorry, we have to refuse your claim."
"But I lost a hand!"
"You might be confusing your policy with our accidental death or dismemberment coverage."
