Sometimes I think about what I'm going to wear in between when my alarm goes off and when I actually get out of bed. Sometimes what goes on top is dictated by what's under it...if I put on a black bra, I'm not going to be wearing a white shirt.
Natter 54: Right here, dammit.
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
My wardrobe is very very small right now. I have very few options and it's KILLING me. Specially now that I actually live in a place where there is fall and I can bust out the sweaters, etc. I can't wait for Joe to get paid for his time in California. All of us are getting new clothes.
The all-news station has traffic and weather every ten minutes - I listen to it, since even radio meteorologists can probably get it right for the 12 to 16 hours I need to know.
I often plan a day or so ahead, at least mentally. Last week I pulled out an outfit a day, but the one I really wanted to wear didn't work out (corset over pants and white or black shirt--the pants aren't the right cut for that corset), so it was mostly a waste.
There are days when I have to wear hard-soled shoes and pants and long-sleeved shirts--those are by far the hardest days, especially when the weather is hot. My applicable shoes are very stompy, and also warm.
Today was one of those days, and luckily my thin turtleneck was clean so it's that and jeans.
Of course, I didn't make it all the way to work--or more like I made it all the way in, it was just the attempt to reach my first meeting that wasn't fruitful and resulted in me coming back here to sleep.
But I'd been working from home since 8! I want that on the record.
In theory I plan what I wear the night before so I can do any needed ironing. In reality I rarely feel like ironing or just forget, so each morning is a scramble to figure out what's wrinkle-free enough to look respectable.
How do you guys get dressed for work? (minus two points to anyone who says "one leg at a time.") Do you pick your clothes out the night before? Do you wait and see what you feel like when you wake up?
I have a vague idea of what I'm going to be wearing every day ahead of time, although it depends on factors like weather, whatever happens to be clean and/or ironed, and if I plan to do any significant walking or shopping during the day.
I pull out clothes for Noah the night before (because mornings are a mad scramble against the clock) but I rarely get around to pulling stuff out for me. I'm weather dependent.
I normally get dressed in the dark, trying to make choices based on the expected temp in the office, not the actual weather (stooopid office). Packing for the next three days - I think I have 5 or 6 outfits cause who knows what I'm going to be in the mood to wear and if I go into our Sacramento office, they are dressy. I'm used to wearing jeans to work. Not that I do every day, but I can when I want.
I try to figure out if I have clean clothes the night before, and sometimes end up doing a late night load of laundry. On Tuesdays I wear something comfy becuase of class (although today I'm wearing very uncomfortable underwear and it's making the day seem slower). I usually iron in the mornings because I procrastinate.
I wear jeans every day and grab what strikes me in the morning in terms of tops and shoes. IOClothesN, my bluefly package just arrived! I want to try it on now!!!
