Yarn Zombies: Now on Cards!
Cakeyvoice, the same maniac who brought you yarn recreations of Dawn of the Dead, Day of the Dead and, of course, Shaun of the Dead, has now created lovely cards featuring the characters from Dawn and Shaun, just in time to send out Halloween greetings. Awesome.
And make sure you go check out her Flickr pool: looks like she's been tackling Hellboy and additional Dawn of the Dead bits as well.
Gripping office debate:
"A variety of communicative activities follows in order to..."
or
"A variety of communicative activities follow in order to..."
Patricia O’Conner (
Woe is I
) says the latter.
Thoughts? The people want to know!
When the movie Urban Cowboy came out, the studio (? someone involved in making the movie) did a survey. Most people thought "urban" meant homosexual. heh.
Variety is singular, so that's how I'd go.
Lunch plans: either the Cuban sandwich at Birley or the jambalaya at Briazz. Both well known and favored items of considerable deliciousness.
How vote you Buffistas?
A variety follows, no?
That's what I thought at first, but O'Connor's argument is that the subject is plural, as in "A couple/number of deadbeats live next door."
How vote you Buffistas?
Do either of these options involve you bringing me lunch?
I am consumed with envy ... having consumed a green salad and sugar-free Jello (orange). sigh.
David! I saw a t-shirt that made me think of you - it said "WWTWD" and, below, with an appropriate illustration, "What Would Tom Waits Do?"

They're both within walking distance of you. In fact I've seen several new Birley sandwich places downtown. Their sandwhichs are spectacularly tasty, so hunt it down.

The right answer is sort of like:
How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb? Fish!
What would Tom Waits Do? Stick a fish down his pants!
or, if he were recording...
Play the bass marimba at the bottom of an empty swimming pool!
