I'm sure somewhere out in the burbs there's good stores, Nutty, no? Other Filene's
Other Filene's are not the same! At the original, you could sometimes find $1000 items for $100. (I seriously had never actually touched a $1000 clothing item in my life, till I ran across a velvet Ralph Lauren jacket in the OFB. It was unbelieveably ugly, so I wasn't even tempted to try it on, but it had its original tag and I think it was $4800 or something. At the OFB, for $450.)
Not that I actually approve of, say, BCBG, which has outlandish and impractical clothing that all has to be dry-cleaned, but I liked having the option of clothes like that within my price range. Most of the chain discount stores sell off-brands or knockoffs, or second-quality, but at the OFB I could get the real McCoy (a season or two late) for the knockoff price.

My friend Alex? His family suffered one of the most famous historical defenestrations.
I just had the awesomest leftover lunch. Duck breast, garlicky greens, and potato bacon gratin. Also a half a grilled cheese sandwich with a tiny bit of leftover tomato soup for dipping.
It was all small amounts of everything, but they were all gooood.

Was it in Coney Island?
Mmm. Duck.
I need to start looking at cars. I'm currently driving a '98 Monte Carlo. I want to find something with decent gas mileage and comparable cargo space. I'll most likely be looking at used cars. What kind of car should I be looking at?
