I breathe Matilda in and kiss her cheeks and the top of her head while she's sleeping. I am so in love with the top of her head when it gets damp and sweaty in mid sleep cycle. It breaks me, that intimate, no-boundaries animal snuffly knowing, and knowing that she'll never remember it (and would cringe if she did) but may someday have that with her own child (who will never remember it, and so forth). Pure maternal mammal pleasure, all sweetly/painfully overlaid with human consciousness of time slipping by.
