We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

I just spent the day with ChiKat, helping her doing some unpacking. We got all of her books shelved (I organized them for her--put my bookstore/library skills to work) and started to hook up her entertainment electronics, until she discovered that one of her speaker connections was broken. Oh, well, we got some other boxes unpacked, so she's pretty close to being all moved in. Her computer hookup is still not working, so she hasn't been able to log into Buffistas, but she should be back online pretty soon.

I got her cat a kitty crack pad for the housewarming gift, and he was all over it. Between that, and my finding his favorite toy in a box I unpacked, he loved me for feeding his catnip jones--he even went looking for me when I went to the bathroom, which he'd never done before when I visited.

Her new apartment is very nice, and so close to her new job that she could walk there if she needed to. I'm jealous.

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

moi aussi.

My band aids didn't stay on long enough to fade but I have reapplied so we'll see. I just have a flap and some missing skin but they sting if I don't have bandaids on them.

I love sushi ::and:: I have yummy sushi pajamas (retail price $85) that I got at a resale shop for $4.50. Unfortunately they are yellow and Buffy's were white.

Apart from sports, "my secret favorite thing on earth is ketchup. I will put ketchup on anything. But it has to be Heinz." - my husband, Michael Vartan

I assume here you are talking about the real thing, not sushi band-aids. If so, I agree.

I was indeed talking about the real thing. But I have a feeling that sushi band-aids are probably also ick.

Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

Thanks, megan! I assume the capitalization is required? I ask because in English it can go either way, and some of my writing lists can go back and forth for dozens of posts on whether Your Majesty or your majesty is better until some practical, published person comes along and says, "Look, once you sell it's all a matter of your publisher's house style, and if you wrote it the other way, you'll just do find-and-replace before your send in your manuscript." I tend to be a capitalization minimalist myself, but the practical, published people are right. I just try to be consistent.

Someone, please explain what the hell this is for.
I don't know, but I want whatever it is.

I am trying to fill out my annual review nonsense paperwork, because it was due Friday. It's making me cry because I'm so angry, which is a shame since I'm trying to vent my frustration without sounding totally crazy. It would be easy to blow it off with my usual bullshit, but even if I'm planning to leave the company I don't think my co-workers should put up with this, and I am totally willing to fall on my sword and say, "This is bullshit" so... ugh.

I really want to mention that until this year I didn't know I could be so tense that I was physically vibrating. Like, to the point that other people could see it. I can't figure out how to work it in, though.

Stay tuned as I will probably be venting randomly all night as I try to finish this goddamned thing.

That's rough, Strega. Good luck.

Things I wanted to put in my review and didn't, part 1 of a series...

I'm supposed to rate myself on things like this:

I kept people appropriately informed at all times
"I attempted to keep people informed, but their ability to process what I'd said was sometimes questionable."

Guh. The second picture is the most adorable thing in history, I think. Eyelashes!

I quit. I mean, at this. For right now. I finished one stupid form, I think, and am half through the second. My epic "I've been here for a decade and until this year never thought of quitting, and for the past six months it's all I think about" essay is on my PC at work, so I'll de-crazyify it tomorrow.

I wish I had something more interesting to talk about. Hm. Oh! So I found out my new(ish) microwave is a lot more powerful than the old one. I found this out by making popcorn. And walking into a kitchen that was full of smoke a few minutes later. Turns out that 4 minutes on the old microwave = about 2 on the new one. Oopsie. The good news is that because of the lack of ventilation, the burned popcorn smell is mostly confined to the kitchen, but that's also the bad news. So any de-stink-erating tips would be groovy. I think that I've mostly cleaned out the microwave itself, but the kitchen is still icky. I should probably buy some vinegar tomorrow. Will vanilla work after the fact? Please to give me magic spells which will make my house not smell like burning, kthxbye.
