We killed a homeless man on this bench. Me and Dru. Those were good times. You know, he begged for mercy, and you know, that only made her bite harder.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

well today's little outing into inner Queens (Ozone Park) convinced me that I will never live further out than I am now, not without a spouse with decent income and a car.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

What makes you think he didn't? Is that exactly the kind of person Bush likes to have around?

Good point.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

What if the spouse had a root, msbelle?

I'm on day #2 of "Leave the house? You crazy? This hurts." I've sent an email off to my GP asking how I'm supposed to be coping with it, since I'm doing such a crap job. I wish my friend were here so I could get his help dealing, but is wishes were horses beggars would ride.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

Fallon told Petraeus that he considered him to be "an ass-kissing little chickenshit"

Don't hold back - tell him how you REALLY feel.

Congrats, Miracleman. Hope Aimee's "many more" is an accurate prediction.

Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

Here's hoping all of this year's hurricanes avoid our Gulf-istas.

Apparently once Humberto moves inland, it's either going to stall out over Mississippi and cause flooding, or else it's going to gradually move over the parts of central Alabama that are having their worst drought ever (when I was there last month they were ~15 inches short of normal rainfall on the year). Go Alabama, Humberto! Choose Alabama!

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Congratulations, MM! Clearly the new apartment got some kind of better-things~ma rolling for you guys.

I really like the basic 10 list, although I have practically fuck-all that's on it.

Basic Black Dress: Um, actually, no. I had the perfect BBD a few years ago, but lost it in a laundromat, and it was cut closely enough that it wouldn't hang right on my post-Matilda body anyway. I have a couple of BDs, but they're emphatically not basic.

Trenchcoat: Nope, though I have been longing for one ever since that power shot of Buffy rounding the corner at Sunnydale High in her powder blue short trench (though I'd need something more like megan's awesome eggplant trench).

Classic Dress Pants: One pair, not quite classic but definitely dressy.

Blazer: one black, one black pinstripe. Would love more.

Skirt: Four worky-type skirts, two fancy, one double-duty.

Classic White Shirt: Nope, but I covet the one shown on, IIRC, the second episode of Tim Gunn's show - very tailored looking, but in a wrap, not button-down.

Day Dress: Two.

Jeans: One.

Sweatsuit alternative: Yup.

Cashmere sweater: One, black.

Bonus item: Corset, I guess, though I haven't dared try it on since Matilda.

Theresa should totally stop by again. I remember the one time she posted here (2004? 2005?) after disappearing from WorldCrossing a couple of years earlier, she made just two or three posts, and they were so densely witty and snarkalicious and lovely that everyone else stampeded COMM to save them forever. I think she's the only Phoenix Board Buffista with a 100% post-to-COMM ratio.

Seriously. Thinking of her is almost enough to tempt me to sign up for Facebook (still not enough, but the closest I've ever come to seriously considering it).

I would say more, but the doe-eyed tribble maltiepoo has kilt me ded.

"I'm useless alone." // "We're all useless alone. It's a good thing you're not alone."

t cheers for Alabama

I am officially moving to a new project on Monday. That's both good and bad, but I will appreciate a shorter commute, and will hopefully be less deadly bored. Or I'll have to pretend to be less bored, since I'll be out in the open.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Crap, ita, that sucks.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

I really don't get Tim's list. This is my list of essentials not including everything I wear to work every day, right? Seriously, it reads more like one of those "two weeks in Europe with only a carry-on" lists - not really practical for actual living.
