We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

Hey, what do you call the part of a combination lock or padlock that is the U-shaped bar?

Nebbermind, Wikipedia solved it: it's the shackle. Duh.

hip deep in pie

A friend of mine and I used to joke about going as the Sun.

I went through a period of having these conceptual costumes. I went in consectutive years as The sky (lots of blue tie-dye and huge cotton clouds in my hair), the ocean (the same tie-dye with fish and shells), darkness (all black), autumn ( a red silk toga with real and painted leaves) .

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

I want to dress as a can-can girl (a la Moulin Rouge), but a) everyone's already kinda seen it so to top it (and make it more authentic) I'd b) have to spend a lot of money. Which I don't have. Grump.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Dude, juliana. I want to steal your idea.

Hmm. Maybe something with my corset, even if I don't commit theft of intellectual property...

Fairy tales or comics, that's how this will come down, I think.

Suddenly the idea of going as Snow White is cracking me up, but I'll get over that soon enough.

Steal away. I think you'd look awesome like that.

I may very well...

I love the idea of post-apocalypse fashion (quite like Jilli likes the steampunk, say), but it doesn't condense well. Also, well, Aunty Entity was just last year. It should maybe wait.

Oh!

If I were really dedicated, I'd go as Grace Jones or one of her characters. That'd totally freak people out if I grew out the blonde and got a box cut for the occasion...

Thanks for the birthday wishes, all. And in return, a picture of Grace with her face finally clear of non-Grace-bits. [link] She was asleep, so I didn't get any other poses yet.

Nilly, thanks as usual for your wonderful annual post, and of course you have never offended me.

Congrats to PM and DH!

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

At one job, we had to dress up for Halloween, and I always went as an extra from The Road Warrior.

I really like JZ's Miss Information. I may have to borrow that idea. As it is, I have a plaque at my cube that says "Complaint Department". If someone comments on it or tries to complain, I tell them "No, you give me a topic and I complain".

I swear, if it was possible and at least one person would get it, I'd go as the files and records character. Because that's what I'm expected to be. Know. Something.

Ah, sweet Grace.
