Xander: I still don't get why we came here to get info about a killer snot monster. Giles: Because it's a killer snot monster from outer space. I did not say that.

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

I've just tossed out my pitch for my second book, and now I wait, chewing my nails, to find out whether it's any good.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

I'm not sure who's breasts would be flattered by that dress (the first one that is). I think the problem is the large expanse of skin on top. Add some sleavage and maybe it could work.

But yes, the fabric is lovely. I may need a skirt in it.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

I gotta say, though, browsing through that catalog? I deeply appreciate the multiple views including side of the dresses on the models.

What were Tim Gunn's list of ten items? I don't think I had any of them. I definitely don't have a trenchcoat anymore, and probably he wouldn't have approved of the (oversized, mens) one I had when I wore one. Anyway, I've decided I really do want a good little black dress. But I don't think I can have one, because I'd have to buy shoes. And I don't want to buy shoes. I want to wear a little black dress with my stompy Doc Martens boots. And white ankle socks.

paperdol, that's so exciting!

Anyway, I've decided I really do want a good little black dress.

My daughter has been going through my closet, reminding me of all the things that are in it that I don't wear. Turns out I have two adorable LBDs, one a chiffon one from my mother, the other one a shift covered in netting with little beaded ladybugs on it. Now all I need is a reason to wear them. (It turns out I also have a gorgeous silk evening dress that no longer fits... I guess I sell that one on eBay, right?)

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

I want to wear a little black dress with my stompy Doc Martens boots. And white ankle socks.

This is not a joke, right? Because that's what I wear with my little black dress, except crew socks, not ankle socks.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

That seems perfectly fine to me. But then, I wear LBDs with petticoats, stripy tights, and pointy boots.

I want more LBDs, but no one seems to be making the style I want.

I'm actually very tempted to buy this dress, but...I'm not sure how it would fit, and while sale means it's a price I'd pay, sale means it's not returnable. Sigh.

My mom never had a LBD. But she did have this dark moss (almost brown) heavy wool weave ...jumper thing. It was sort of a-line, boat necked, & sleevless. Very clean lines. Stopped just above the knees. She'd often wear a long sleeved blouse under it. I'm describing it poorly, but it was a lovely formal cocktail-y dress. Except not for NM summer. Wool, afterall. Anyway, I still love it. She's been wearing it for 30+ years and it has never looked dated or inappropriate.

Unfortunately, it would take one hell of a tailor to make something like that look good on me.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I really don't know why you couldn't.

I think I have two black dresses, neither of them "little." One's stretch velvet, zips up the front, three-quarter sleeve. I wear it at Christmas, mostly. The other's an enormous shirtdress from J. Peterman.
