Anyway, yes, this incarnation of Hannibal has a lot of similarities to a vampire, just without the supernatural side to it. And he sees Will as the perfect thrall, as to mess with because he's curious about those human creatures, and as someone to use to protect his agenda.

I gather this show is very *loosely* based upon the books and movies.

It's... playing with them? It's not just "we'll use the character names and the premise and ignore the rest." Some of it is straight from the novels. Some of it is twisted around: Gideon does things Hannibal did in the books, and even his name is from an early screenplay for Silence of the Lambs. Miriam almost caught Hannibal the way Will does in the books. We've already seen the first Red Dragon victims. A fair amount of dialogue is copied from the text.

And then on top he's sprinkling references to The Shining and Motel Hell and Flannery O'Connor and Dead Like Me...it's a good time.

Yes. And I believe him. Which is something I really love about Hannibal.

Can't make up my mind whether The Glades is here or Cable Drama, but I'm here now, so I'll post here.

Is it just me, or has our protagonist, Jim, turned into a Major Asshole? He's so disrespectful of other people and their lives. Has he always been this way and I just haven't been paying attention (I admit this is distinctly possible)? I found myself wondering if I should drop the show tonight, but as is so often the case, I like the supporting cast enough that I'll put up with him for a while longer.

No, it's gotten worse. They've never known what to do with the Callie relationship so first he did the stupid Atlanta thing and now they're just making them both kind of idiots to gin up some conflict.

I was really hoping that Shepherd Book's flamboyant fashion designer would turn out to be an act.
