Oh, Castle. That was such a mixed bag. Was anyone else delighted by return of Westside Wally?

This thread is for procedural TV, shows where the primary idea is to figure out the case. [NAFDA]
I would hope that Castle would pick up on her willingness when she asked him what he wanted to talk to her about. In all fairness to Kate, it was probably kind of a mindfuck after she'd been shot, and easier to pretend that she didn't remember because he would not have left her alone. And then, how would she bring it up if/when she was ready to hear it again.
I know, right? It's like he's completely forgotten the swingset conversation from the season premiere. She's so ready to have the conversation if he'd just talk to her.

Well, one of them has to be able to bring it up, or they'll just go in circles forever. She's no less able to bring it up than he is, and frankly, she has the edge here. She has more of an idea of how they both feel than he does.
I don't see why the ball is in his court.

Exactly. It isn't like she is inexperienced and shy. It should be well within her capacity to say, "The thing is, I have feelings for you. And I do remember you telling me you love me. It scared the hell out of me then because I don't know why. And it was unfair of me to try to pretend I didn't remember. Not completely ready to have a relationship yet because I'm still working through issues leftover from my mother's murder, my shooting, the Captain's death, but I am working with my therapist. I have no right to ask you to wait, but I am hoping when [whatever benchmark is reached] we can try to have something together."
Oh, look I just wrote my first Castle fanfic.

This being a tv show with a will-they-or-won't-they thing going on, I assume they're just going in circles. Which honestly annoys me. Fish or cut bait. The circles make me so annoyed with shows. This one is proving to be no exception. It took me two days and countless times paused and forgetting that I was, oh, watching a drama to get through the ep.
But, yeah, she's a grown up and either of them could bring it up.
Ryan and Esposito are often the saving grace when I get tired of the soap opera. I love that Ryan's marriage is considered to be absolutely solid and that he and Jennifer are probably going to be stupidly in love forever.

I really like them. It's a way to have a relationship (though with a very secondary, or even tertiary, character) on a show that is just a good thing and not a thing to cause ~drama~ and conflict.
The thing I miss most about Captain Montgomery is him and Castle trading fatherhood stories.
I miss that too. For as much as I really don't like this focus on the relationship between Castle and Beckett, this show really has been all about relationships for me. Parents and children and friends and coworkers and ... just people. Including romantic. But now I feel like it's pivoted to really focus so intently on the funny or tragic mishaps of how Castle and Beckett aren't together that... blah.
Then again, it could be worse. I could be watching Fringe .
