Quinn and Rachel don't even have subtext that I can see.
Procedurals 1: Anything You Say Can and Will Be Used Against You.
This thread is for procedural TV, shows where the primary idea is to figure out the case. [NAFDA]
Oh good lord. (a) I was thinking Finn, and I hate them ANYWAY and (b) that's really ridiculous!
That wasn't schmaltz, that was gold!
Heh. Agreed.
Heretic! I love the [Castle/Beckett] pairing. In a way that has me in no rush to see them actually liplock for reals, or anything. I think they're great together the way they are.
Also agreed. I do think they'll have to make the leap (or at least some sizable steps) this season though.
Watching NCIS right now, and...I am not into this show anymore, I guess. It's just striking me as wanky and self-indulgent, when I can see what it's actually going for. My heart's just not where they're aiming.
I'm the target audience for that kind of episode, I guess. I loved it, especially getting to see Kate again.
I felt like they took every easy fanfic scenario and strung it out without saying anything interesting or resonant about any of the characters. I'm just not there with them anymore.
I don't know, the idea of Kate and Tony actually having a kid is interesting. And still bitching at each other. Just because it's a fanfic scenario doesn't make it uninteresting.
And I'm very intrigued at how the thing with Ari would have developed without Kate being killed, and why was Ziva being interrogated?
(I admit, a little chill went through me when Ari walked by)

I like the way NCIS remembers its own history. So many shows reinvent themselves and pretend the early years don't matter.

You did catch the "easy" part, right?
I'm not down on it because someone else did it already. I'm down on it because it feels like what *everyone* did already--like "this is the thing the fans like" as opposed to "this is the thing which does the best for the characters".
And then weren't interesting with it to boot. Easy option, flat execution.
As *I* took it.

I agree with this, except for the retcon wrt Tony's mother.
Also, do we know the whole story of Gibb's mother? Did she commit suicide? I can't remember.
I wish Jenny had been given a bigger role in the episode. In fact, I think it probably should have been a two parter because they barely skimmed the surface of the different scenarios. I want to know how Kate not dying got Abby and McGee together. Also, I want Abby and McGee back together, now please.
