And I wonder, what possible catastrophe came crashing down from heaven and brought this dashing stranger to tears?

That's why there was white font! You only have yourself to blame.

And it's pronounced Hay-mish, with the emphasis on the first syllable.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

WC: I can't believe Sara just went happily along with some serious criminal activity.

Thank you, Connie! I accept all responsibility for my inability to ignore whitefont. But PUPPY?!

Zen, in this case 'puppy' is euphemism for a sweet, wee doggy. "Wee Jock," a West Highland terrier to be precise. He is replaced by another dog called Jock .

I had to go to wikipedia to reconcile something in my mind.

I've listened to nearly all the Hamish Macbeth novels and a few things about the tv show are different.

The name of his dog, for one. Not sure why they'd change that, really.

I was always amused that Hamish is a cop and regularly poaches salmon for the pub.

He is, by no means, an upstanding guy. You get a bit more of his underside in the books than the series, but yeah, the self-interest and theft are prevalent themes.

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

He also overlooks pot smoking and occasionally imbibes.

And Wee Jock lives happy and healthily through two whole seasons so quit watching before you get to season 3 and you never have to deal with the whitefont. Plus Robert Carlyle and bonus Shirley Henderson.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

Auuuuurgh! White font! I want to read..... but no, I'll wait. Yes, I get from the books that Hamish is unusually laid-back for a constaple. Far from being a Barney Fife, he's gone way past Andy Griffith that way.

Thank you, Laga! I shall add the books to the mountain of to-be-read.

I don't remember much what the dog is like in the books. What's his name? I've only read two of them.
