He also overlooks pot smoking and occasionally imbibes.
And
Wee Jock lives happy and healthily through two whole seasons so
quit watching before you get to season 3 and you never have to deal with the whitefont. Plus Robert Carlyle and bonus Shirley Henderson.
Auuuuurgh! White font! I want to read..... but no, I'll wait. Yes, I get from the books that Hamish is unusually laid-back for a constaple. Far from being a Barney Fife, he's gone way past Andy Griffith that way.
Thank you, Laga! I shall add the books to the mountain of to-be-read.
I don't remember much what the dog is like in the books. What's his name? I've only read two of them.
In the books, the dog appears to be smarter than most of Hamish's immediate supervisors.
Should I read the books or start with the series?
Laga's timing is a bit off for the puppy sadness. I just rewateched
S1Ep5, which is when Wee Jock gets replaced with just plain Jock
. After that, it's smooth sailing.
I really enjoyed listening to the books, Zen. I end up fast forwarding through some of the episodes. Take that for what it is worth.
I think part of it is that I knew the characters pretty well before I 'saw' them. At the same time, I think a lot is missed without the deeper character building of the books.
The series is great for the scenery though. Just gorgeous countryside.
thanks for the correction bonny. Weird I remembered it so wrong. Obviously I haven't gotten very far in my rewatch.
Before I edited it, my original post said exactly what you said. I thought it occurred much later in the series...because I'm pretty sure it was later in the books.
I wiki'ed, then rewatched the ep and discovered our error.
So...not weird!
