I figured it out about 10 minutes in.
I didn't figure out that the guy was being blackmailed, but as soon as they said that and showed the birthday card from the niece it was obvious she was the leverage. And as soon as the father called I knew he was the one that had her. Pretty transparent, and I wasn't paying as much attention as I could have been.
Poor homeless orphan G.

I know, I didn't even have to rewind to catch anything I might have missed while reading fic. Very sad. But, since it's on after NCIS, I'll keep watching it for a while.
This revived my interest in NCIS. For a bit, I was afraid they were actually going to kill Ziva. I liked it when Tony called McGee his partner. I missed all of last season, so maybe that's not actually a new thing.
It's new. I like the camaraderie between them. The teamwork, them going for dinner, them having a plan to talk to Gibbs about getting a new team member. He didn't even call him Probie or McGeek once. And McGee wasn't snippy or particularly intellectually superior-acting.
Much preferred the NCIS opener. There's nothing better than a snarky Tony and I loved his description of Gibbs as a functional mute. Hee. And I even liked McGee. He didn't pull too much of a condescending attitude and there was good solid teamwork between him and Tony. Very enjoyable.
I haven't seen NCIS yet because TCG had a meeting and he wants to see it too, but I always like McGee!
NCIS: When Tony referred to Abby as the "happiest goth you'll ever meet", did anyone else think, "He obviously hasn't met Jilli"?
sj, yes! That's exactly what I thought!
And now I am thinking that Jilli needs to make a guest appearance on NCIS to promote her book.
I know what I liked about it - the "squabbling adolescents/stern but loving father figure" thing was fun, but it was getting old. It's good to see the team growing up, dealing with each other and Gibbs from a more mature perspective.
Exactly. I hope they keep this going through the season. They did so much backsliding last season, I was ready to give up on them.
