Was he the apprentice from before they encountered him? In the story, and in the writer's heads?

I think, ita, the idea was supposed to be that Zack became apprenticed to Gormagon after his return from Iraq-- as if he was lost and looking for some sort of guidance. At least, that's how I remember it.

Gormagon's apprentice was killed at the beginning of the season, so Gormagon tracked down Zach and recruited him. Zach was a mess after being in Iraq, and he's not the most socially ept person in the world anyway.

I think also the Gormagon's storyline fell victim to the Writer's Strike and it could develop they way they had originally envisioned.

Okay, I really enjoyed Bones this week. I particularly enjoyed the Hodgins/Nigel-Murray show.

Yes. This week Nigel-Murray didn't make me grind my teeth with his non-sequitorial facts like in his last appearence. And the bouncing turkey was priceless.

Nigel-Murray was actually rather cute in this one. Seems like he's easing back a little and the facts, while still helping to ground him, are making more general sense.

I think the revolving door of interns has been good for highlighting why Cam got the job as head of the lab over Temperance. I loved the "You're not allowed to be in the same room without supervision" part.
