I thought that this was an excellent episode. (I was making my dinner while I watched it and had to pause at one point - coincidentally, right Jane is smiling brilliantly. . . it stuck in my head to contrast beautifully with his expression at the end.)

for an actor I generally dislike intensely, and have only heard horrific things about as a human being, I really do love Ryan O'Neal in certain roles (What's Up Doc, The Driver, Zero Effect, this role on Bones).

The issue forefront on my thoughts for this episode of Life is Dani's reaction to Bobby from the first season. Her big thing then was standing by your partner. And now we have them pursuing a fellow cop and there's no issue of standing by ones partner, there's only justice. If this were the first season, I might actually find that difference interesting.

Bones: squicky sort of death and it was a good shipbound episode. Now, why couldn't Bones be debriefed in China and still go to the dig?
Probably because she still had to perform the experiments and tests in a proper lab. They had to secure the plane as a crime scene as well.
Bones: "What's that wonderful smell?" "Uh, roast pork."
Poor Hodgins, being left behind so easily while he holds a whole candelabra for Angela. But now Angela's learning what it feels like to be the one being told No
