Procedurals 1: Anything You Say Can and Will Be Used Against You.
This thread is for procedural TV, shows where the primary idea is to figure out the case. [NAFDA]
I think it would have been more effective if they had opened the episode with Boulet singing to his kid, a nice family moment, and have what's going on in Boulet's background ambiguous. Then have Cobb call him over, and then the camera lets us see that they're at a crime scene hauling a body out of the water, and the little girl is still singing to him on the phone.
That
I think would have been a better way to juxtapose it.
It also annoyed me that he was singing over his daughter, rather than along with her. Also, does it make sense that I would have preferred if Boulet/AA was either slightly better at singing or slightly worse?
Didn't his wife say something to put the kibosh on it? I believe she suggested ice cream
bless her for cutting him off, because it was still annoying on the second rewatch. I think I'm still hung up on my "AA is annoying" ...hangup. So his sleazy "I know you want a banana split too" to his wife made me want to slap him.
Speaking of second rewatches, it was slightly better with a full night's rest and the cobwebs out of my eyes (and brain). Being grumpy and tired definitely skewed my view. There was a lot more Cobb/Boulet and Glueboy/Love Tap than I remember.
The chief's story at least highlighted Boulet's position as a father and cop, but unless the daughter comes back into the picture, I fail to see how this ep informed the chief's character, how it highlighted a "why" to him that we the viewer could keep in mind for future eps, and frankly, I don't want that much screen-time dedicated to him again. At least not with plots lof this caliber. I was liking his character just fine with the glimpses we got of him, and thought how he handled his team informed/illuminated his character far more than this ep did.
I'm finally getting caught up on my Tivo viewing.
It took a bit for me to get used to Hodgins new hair.
I know! I wasn’t sure he was the same guy for awhile there. It makes him look shorter, I think, but also cuter.
JM is recurring on WAT this season.
I'd read here that he was on, but still kept staring at him, not quite sure it was him. Amazing what an accent and peroxide can do to change appearances/perception.
Which they never do on Prison Break. Is anyone else watching? I'm kind of meh but loyal still. The shots of "Sarah" were ridiculous - can't they find anyone with the same color hair as Sarah Wayne Callies, at least? I can't work up any caring for LJ's fate, but I am curious about Whistler, his girlfriend, and I admit the Birding codebook got my fancy. Yay birding! also, Go Michael! blowing up the water pipe. Yay, Bellick finally got some clothes. Pity the poor actor getting made up to be filthy, wearing baggie formerly-tighie-whities for a few eps. Did anyone catch the name of the med that Alex is jonesing for? The last few eps of Season 2 were filmed in Pensacola, FLA; I wonder if that's where they are filming Season 3. I feel sorry for Wentworth Miller having to wear long sleeved shirts all the time, but hey, whatcha gonna do with all those tattoos. I wonder how they are going to introduce his tats into this season's storyline, for surely he can't remain clothed through all the steam and mud they are showing.
Liked both Bones and House this week. I enjoy every episode of Bones that has Ryan O'Neal. I enjoy other episodes, but I think his episodes tend to shine a little more for me. He's got great delivery and I particularly liked the way the writers used June Harris's letter to get through to Tempe where Booth couldn't. A little anvilicious, but then, that's what Tempe needs. And drunk Booth! How cute was that? I just wanted to pet him when he put his head on Tempe's shoulder.
House was fun. I enjoyed the way he kept winnowing people out, arbitrary or not. And Wilson has gotten more than a little evil! It seemed like the last two seasons it was all what House could do to Wilson and now Wilson is turning the tables on him. They're either a couple of twelve-year-olds in disguise or they've been secretly married for twelve years. I'm very curious to see if House actually ends up with a new gaggle of wannabe diagnosticians or if the originals get sucked back into House's event horizon. ::rubs hands in glee::
I just caught the pilot of K-Ville, and was surprised to like it. I'll have to download the second ep. Also pleased to see other people here liked it at least a little.
I'm still chewing on it. Will report back later.
I just realized a nit I need to pick with House: Brigham Young University doesn't have a medical school, they've got an undergraduate pre-med program. The University of Utah, however, has a pretty good med school. Though BYU graduates are the type to wear jewelry touting the place.
You know he'd just roll his eyes and say "Whatever," at you, Connie.
And probably some Osmond snark.
Cause it's House.
Cause it's House.
You forgot the "tsk" he'd add before the "Whatever."
I had things that I wanted to say about "Life". . . . Christina Hendricks!!!
Yes, that may have been it. Well, I enjoyed the second episode immensely - plus it also had DEPUTY LEO - from Veroncia Mars.
Ummm, is he well-known enough that it isn't odd that I suspected that he was the killer as soon as I saw him? I realize my perspective may be skewed by my VM love.
I'm really enjoying Life. This second ep wasn't so much with the quirk, lightness or Zen-ness (those quiet moments I liked so much in the pilot), and Charlie's anger was much more in evidence (guess he doesn't take too kindly to someone trying to kill him, even if he does believe their innocent. No soft touch for the groom after the pool incident).
The lovely 8-y/o CH who is marrying NoZenForDaddy! Damn, she's looking good. I didn't recognize her at first, but I still had this feeling that she was up to no good, so now I'm not sure if it's YoSafBridge I'm distrusting, or if Mrs. Crews the Second is eyeing her step-son-to-be's settlement money (somehow, I don't know how that'd work. Ack, like Charlie needs more conspiracy and plotting in his life!
