Procedurals 1: Anything You Say Can and Will Be Used Against You.
This thread is for procedural TV, shows where the primary idea is to figure out the case. [NAFDA]
I disagree with Wolf on one point. He did have an indispensable actor, Jerry Orbach. He's the reason I kept watching even though the Thompson era.
wrod. Uncle Lennie was the shit. Of course, writer-wise, I disagree with Dick Wolf a lot, because characters mean little to him. But since I'm nothing from nowhere and Homicide's been off for ten years, he wouldn't give a flying shit what I think.
Anyone see the L&O:CI season finale? I think that may have set a record for the most loose ends tied up in a single episode. It was also wrenching and kind of creepy.
Do you think Nicole is really gone?
That would be pretty damn hard to fake. It would have taken a lesser organ for me to think she might still be alive. I hope she's gone. I was one of the people who tried to vote her off the island, back when they had that stunt ending.
I tried to watch the episode, but was constantly distracted by things happening here on the homefront. Was the heart DNA tested or something? Not that I really care -- I detested Nicole, and I was so, so tired of the character. I grew tired of the way she kept reappearing with magical powers to flummox Bobby and scamper off into the night again, laughing over her shoulder. But it does seem odd that they'd write her off off-screen.
But you're right, that wrapped up the mentor, mentor's daughter, brother, paternity question, and Nicole, all in episode. Tidy.
Yes, the heart was DNA tested and it was her heart.
I know she was supposed to be Goren's Moriarty, but Moriarty only shows up twice in the Sherlock Holmes stories. I think a super-villain is hard to maintain if you're not in comic-book land. (I say that as a person who is very fond of comic-book land.) Even then, Moriarty was supposed to be the mastermind of a great criminal enterprise, not a sociopath who largely worked alone.
eta: It also used the Ross-Rogers affair that's been hinted at all season. It was a continuity-gasm of massive proportions.
Was it a season finale? (I'm usually more aware of these things, but I haven't been paying proper attention to the L&O franchise lately. I think I'm suffering from L&O fatigue.)
It was a season finale.
