Oh, at first it was confusing. Just the idea of computers was like — whoa! I'm eleven hundred years old! I had trouble adjusting to the idea of Lutherans.

This thread is for procedural TV, shows where the primary idea is to figure out the case. [NAFDA]

Stupid American Idol

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Numb3rs is the only thing I think I'm watching that will be in this thread. The SO watches more procedurals than I. Or did. But he likes the law shows; the Practice, even Boston Legal. Numb3rs is one of the few shows we really watch together, and never watch without each other.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

Is Medium worth checking out too, then?

I like it. The structure of the show allows them to vary the approach to the mystery-of-the-week in some very interesting ways. I also like the level of importance that is given to the family dynamic.

I don't think it's on the schedule until midseason, though.

Ah, but your scheduling is gobbledeegook to me, my lovely - all my TV viewing is courtesy of DVDs purchased from the myriad pirate DVD stalls here in Bangkok. (I'm irritated to death that Season 3 of Doctor Who isn't on the stalls yet, but generally we get the US stuff pretty soon after it's ahemable.) I'm pretty sure I've seen both Medium and The Ghost Whisperer, among other things, and wondered whether to get them. I'll look into picking it up, then.

Art Crawl!!!

Season 3 of Doctor Who isn't out anywhere?

Well, it's coming out in early November here.

It boggles my mind that the dodgy DVD guys might be waiting for the actual kosher DVDs so they can rip those off, rather than aheming. (Although it's probably the US telly that they ahem, mostly - the Brit telly is more often than not kosher, now I come to think of it.)

'Course, I do much prefer my rip off DVDs that are based on the real ones, rather than ahemed. But...want! New! Who!

eta

Er...returning you to your regularly-scheduled Precedurals Talk - my NUMB3RS DVDs are of the ahemmed variety. I'm enjoying Season 3 - and sad though I am that Peter McNicol had to take time off for his other commitments (as I love him mightily), I am personally convinced that he's gone to work in the Pegasus Galaxy, so I'm good with that. And I really like Charlie's new boss.

How much do you think his character would irritate McKay?

Heh.

Lots. But Larry wouldn't mind, and he wouldn't be intimidated by McKay either. I think that this would be good for McKay.

Also, I think Larry and Radek would get on well.

I am so totally married to the notion of Larry in the Pegasus Galaxy.

(...I could get carried away and want Charlie to go too, after something has gone wrong, and Megan to damn well elbow her way along somehow or other, and kick Wraith ass...but I'm trying not to write an entire AU in my head.)

No, no you MUST write it.

Hee! SO tempting!

...and you know, in the episode of NUMB3RS that features Lionel Luthor, er, whatsisname, thingy, (eta John Glover) as a psychic Larry and Charlie have an argument about the Stargate program. Man, my head about exploded at that point. Okay, so they're just referring to it as the government using psychics - but please, that barely merits a handwave. In the SG shows, the government is hardly 'fessing up to all the alien shenanigins, so - sure. Cover story. And Larry? Would TOTALLY accept the notion of the gates and the aliens and all that jazz. Wouldn't throw him even a little bit - he'd be very excited and earnest about it all. Which is why he's in the Pegasus Galaxy right now.
