No, it wasn't explicit. But she was a) a red-head, although neither of her parents were, b) drawn with the same eyes and nose as Dr. Venture, and c) her mother was having an affair with Dr. Jonas Venture, while d) Col. Gentleman was interested in other men. I think they didn't want to make it explicit, but they expected the viewers to catch on.
