See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

We spent much of the evening of the Fourth binge-watching Schitt's Creek, and the entire tentative romance between David and Patrick is so wholesome and adorable it's breaking my heart (they also remind me somewhat of my brother and his husband--my brother is the snarky, distancing one whose first instinct is to observe and narrate his emotions at arm's length rather than experience them, and his husband is gentle and doting but also knows exactly how to tease him into letting his guard down). The way they smile at each other is wrecking me.

Oh, yeah, there's the entire rest of the show too. It's just exactly what I needed in every possible way just now, and I'm so very glad that we all gave it a second chance (Hec saw the first two episodes and meh'd them many months ago, and Matilda and I started and then stopped back when I was in full quarantine in April).

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I did the same thing, watched a couple of episodes and wast it to it and then later binge-watched and fell in love.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

We're big into doing Alexis' little kitty paws down fingers hand gesture right now.

"I'm useless alone." // "We're all useless alone. It's a good thing you're not alone."

You really have to reassure people that it's worth keeping going.

Which I had heard! But still, you have to ease into it with low expectations and then it starts to pay off bigger and bigger.

I love low-stakes drama with slow-built character arcs. The premise on this is Arrested Development, but in a lot of ways it's more like Northern Exposure. Also it's a bit of a hangout comedy. You just want to spend time with the characters.

I particularly like the end-episode bits where David (inflected "!") and Alexis troll their parents mercilessly.

I also like how some of the broader jokes (like Alexis being kidnapped by various rich sleezeballs) comes around as a both an emotional toll on David and an aspect of Alexis' learned competence (including her F-class drivers license).

Our wings are not tired.

So I was looking through the comedy series options and saw Jane the Virgin and gave it a shot. I've only watched the first 2 episodes, but I am totally charmed. It Is So Miami! I feel like I am home. Does it continue to be oh so charming and telenovelas-like? If so I am here for it.

If I want to become a cloud of bats, does each bat need a separate vaccination?

I love JtV so so so so much.

Why isn't everyone pelting me with JOY, dammit? - Zenkitty

How is it only in the last month or so that I'm discovering Hannah Gadsby? ("Discovering" like Columbus discovered America - she's been around for a good decade or something). She's got the most amazing spicy brains and she's cute as hell. Gotta find me a friend willing to lend me a Netflix password so I can see "Nanette". Seriously, she's awesome, how am I only just now finding this bandwagon to hop on to?
