I don't think you have to pay permissions fees for covering songs in live performances, but anything that's going to appear on TV or in a movie should have royalties involved.

I think the venue pays the fees. Easier for the licensing folks to keep track.

I watched about 10 minutes and decided I didn't want to take on another show, especially if it's not going to have original music. If it gets really good, someone let me know.

I just watched it and was delighted. We'll see where it goes, but a lot of good people and good escapist tv, which is one of my prime objectives.
