I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

she asked if there was a fitness center.

What is even happening?

Does anyone else think Janet might be Bad Place Janet? Like maybe there was a switcheroo when the train came during episode 4.1 (I think; I remember thinking there could have been a switcheroo in the season premiere at some point.)

I was mostly fine with her telling Jason, "Not now, because I have too much going on," but when she told him about Bortles, I couldn't help but wonder if she did so to demoralize him.

Also, she seemed to participate a little too much when Tahani was questioning Eleanor's leadership.

I realize this could all be part of Janet's evolution, but it just gave me pause.

It did seem weird for Janet to volunteer that information, when there was no need for Jason to know anything about what was happening back on Earth. Can Bad Janets tone down their hostility enough to pass for a Good Janet who's stressed out and not being chipper?

After the talks with Jason and Eleanor I think we can safely rule out Michael having been replaced, though.

Yeah, I don't know. I mean after a lot of false starts, Good Janet fooled everyone in the Bad Place at the end of season two, so maybe?

That was my feeling too, Matt.

Okay, after last night's episode, I feel like either Janet has become human, or there was certainly a switcheroo. She was blatantly feeding bad ideas to Tahani.

Also, since when has Michael been able to do stuff like shatter vases with a wave of the hand? That's new, right?

I don't think you have to whitefont, Cindy.

It's not a real vase, after all. Remember the Trolley Problem? He can do some stuff in the neighborhood.

I think Janet being the most advanced Janet ever after her umpteen gazillion reboots just has some downsides. I can't see Bad Janet having the self control to masquerade as our Janet for so long. She does seem to be heading for some kind of breakdown or explosion, though.

Jason's "Not again" made me laugh and laugh. It was so like the Hitchhiker's Guide petunias!

Thrive to spite them

I was surprised Jason didn't accidentally let on to Chidi what was going on.

Tahani always surprises me with how much she has changed.

Hey. New board.

Okay I need a plot problem explained. If it's impossible to get enough points to be in the good place on Earth now, and so all of our best people are all headed to the bad place, how come Mindy St. Clair? Does this mean that she is the "best" person of the last 500 years?

Yeah, in the sense of being the person with the most net points. That bothered me some but I have decided it further demonstrates the inherent wrongness of the point system. I figure earning all her points pretty much right as she died is what almost let her slip through.

Didn't her points equalize out to zero, thus requiring the Judge to make a ruling and bypassing whatever quota is normally used? Whereas the head Accountant made it sound as if Doug Forcett's half-million or so points wouldn't be enough to get a man of his age into the Good Place with the system being applied in standard fashion.
