For those of us who have found ourselves now fond of Jake Peralta, what was your moment where you realized, hey! I don't hate him!
Mine was (we've been rewatching with Lilly) probably when he punched Jimmy Brogan for his homophobic remarks about Holt, as this episode review discusses [link]
Cereal: he really did go from "I'm watching despite him" to "I'm watching in part for him" over the years.
I couldn't cite the turning point but I know I was hesitant to watch with him as the lead.
Then I remembered I liked his low key presence in I Love You, Man. And as I watched I really loved the way they wrote his character.

I honestly don't remember. It just kind of happened.
There are times when I still cringe at Peralta but I like the rest of the cast. S I've rewatched some and The character has gotten less cringey
I feel like it was a gradual transformation of the Jake Peralta character, and looking back at it now, it was a beautiful thing. Even if Sandburg stayed annoying, I swear Andre Braugher is worth the pain.
In looking at the episode titles/descriptions, I think I actually started liking Jake early in S2. Definitely by the trip the squad takes to the beach house.

Oh my god, Andre Braugher is a GOLDEN GIFT.
I'm trying to remember. I know going in I was thinking, "eh, Samberg, I don't know" (I didn't hate him, but he was not my cup of tea) but initially it was enough of an ensemble show that I didn't mind him too much and at this point I'm kinda vaguely fond of Samberg because of Peralta.
But, you know, Holt and Rosa would probably be enough for me if everyone else was garbage.
People were worried about his ability to do comedy. Hard to believe now.

I also couldn't stand Gina in S1, and now she is MY QUEEN.
