Dear Hubs,
I like to watch The Office on Thursday nights so I can discuss with the Buffistas on Fridays. If you want us to watch it together, fine. If you're too tired to watch, I can live with it.
However, if you're too tired to watch The Office, please go to bed instead of snoring on the couch while I watch something else. Bill Haley and the Comets' performances in Don't Knock the Rock lose something by the accompaniment.
With love,
Fred
The Office last night felt very Old School, except OMG Jim has turned into Michael... !! Part of it was probably Jim overreacting to Ryan, but I think they're planning on a character arc for Jim this season, similar to what they did with Pam in season 3. Should be interesting.
OMG TOBY NO. Poor Toby! If it had been anyone else, I'd have been skeeved out, but it's TOBY, and he's my poor little woobie, and he's been pining hopelessly and he let Pam's innocent compliments go to his head! Don't move to Costa Rica, Toby! It will be okay!
Cokehead Ryan = Priceless. Dwight = AWESOMECAKES.
Re. 30 Rock: I really admired their commitment to the Amadeus homage. Not sure whether it completely worked, but it was worth it for the shots of Dr. Spaceman with his cape running slo-mo to Confutatis from the Requiem. If I recall, every single piece of music used was from Amadeus soundtrack.
Liz offering Kenneth to Banks! Then making out with him in the elevator to protect Jack!! Do they want me to start shipping Liz/Jack or what?
That was a really interesting episode for Jim, I thought. Turns out he can't just step in and be Competent Guy after all.
30 Rock almost has too much funny for me to handle it all in one watching.

I need to see
Amadeus
now. Except I will be laughing at the parts that were parodied, which will make it weird.

The scene with Ryan was interesting, especially in light of his Talking Head later on about the office listening to good ideas. It's almost like he cares about his job or something.
OMG TOBY NO. Poor Toby!
I know!! Ack, ack, that was just too painful to watch -- everyone's reactions to his hand on her knee, and then his sudden outburst, and *jumping the fence* and running away, oh god!
Jim's phone call to the security guard was also painful, although funnier. Love that his name turned out to be Hank after all. Why wouldn't Jim call him again, though, to let him know that they finally got out? I suppose he could have been on his way already.
I think my favorite moment of the night, though, was Michael's bewildered reaction to Ryan's hugs at the bar: "It's... it's Michael and Dwight." "I know!!"

Of course CREED would know; the dude frickin' lives in the office.
Why wouldn't Jim call him again, though, to let him know that they finally got out?
Because he had convinced himself that Hank was not ever going to come and also forgot? Poor Hank. He should get one hell of a tip this year.

I think the whole thing about that storyline was that Pam & Jim not such the golden couple of the office as one might assume. Remember Pam hitting Meredith in the face with the football?
Yup. That "who thinks we're a better couple?" made that pretty clear.
Also, wasn't Jim using Toby's, who had since fled to Costa Rica (poor Toby), cell phone to call Hank?
