You're wrong about River. River's not on the ship. They didn't want her here, but she couldn't make herself leave. So she melted... Melted away. They didn't know she could do that, but she did.

Always Anti-fascist!

  • now* I kind of remember it...luckily it was not D H-P's "Viking Quest" or anything, though.
Some more thoughts on "Kitchen Confidential," now that I've seen the first disk. I agree that NB hasn't had anything to shine with, exactly, though he does give characteristically funny line readings. [link]

Occasionally I’m callous and strange

erin, you're thinking of The Powers that Be

Yes!!!!! That is so it. Ok, not actually a spin off, but it is the actors who play Niles and Maris playing a different unhappily married couple. What are the chances of two unrelated sitcom pairings?

eta: boo on my library for not having it. tho in their defense, it might not even be released on DVD.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

I don't think Mahaffey actually played Maris on Frasier (the character never actually appeared in any of the episodes I saw). But her description sounded as if the writers had her in mind.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

I gave up on Frasier in the later seasons, but I remember the Niles-fencing for his wife's honor (or something?) with great fondness. Also the episode when the brothers' high school nemeses showed up as plumbers ('You have the BIG Mercedes?") and somebody's head ended up in the toilet....

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

And the episode where Niles tried to give a dinner party and ended up with a bird on his head.

Or the other episode where Niles tried to give a dinner party, and he and Frasier had to get rid of a dead seal on the beach outside the house, and everyone thought Niles had killed Maris.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

I remember Niles doing a tango with Daphne in some very farcical episode, but I do not remember the circumstances at all

Always Anti-fascist!

I think that Maris and he had some big fight, she went off to have plastic surgery, and he had some event he didn't want to go to alone. I know it was before the Niles/ Maris divorce, because later Maris mentioned it in the divorce paperwork.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Really? Not Cosby? Or Cheers? They made NBC kings of Thursday nights. (I preferred Night Court, but I realize that's a minority view.)

I agree with this completely, especially the Night Court part.

I also loved Fraiser, mainly for Niles. Fraiser's character got annoying toward the end, but Niles and Daphne were wonderful.

Best sitcom of all time for me, would probably go to All in the Family. I hate Seinfeld with a passion, but I know that most people wouldn't agree with me.
