Plot first, people, music next.
Are we watching the same show? I couldn't enjoy Glee until I banished these thoughts from my head. Ahh... maybe because I already did that midway through season 1, I'm not noticing that season 2 has gone downhill. For me, Glee is musical porn. This week, quite literally.
I don't think Steph's comment was a warhead of any kind. They don't usually have "please" attached.
I also don't think the point is to silence anyone - it's to be conscious and considerate about the ways in which we may be offending our fellow board-members - we have discussions about this all the time - re: religion, politics, etc. It's complicated, yo. You (general you) can say what you want, but if you offend someone, they can speak up about that. If not, the offended party is silenced, and that seems even crappier to me. I *want* to know if I've offended and/or hurt someone so I can understand why, apologize, and change my behavior.
Overweight women certainly face more judgment than skinny women, but that doesn't mean that we can't or shouldn't exercise consideration about how we talk about people's bodies.
Gris, thank you for apologizing and rephrasing. I have certainly said similar things in the past (or laughed at other saying them), before I understood that judging any weight level was not a good thing.
I made sure to put "unattractive" in scare quotes, to emphasize that was the clear opinion of the show makers, and not me.
Personally, I don't have a problem with discussing changes in people's bodies in a factual way, and I think expressing mild concern is normal at a noticeable and big change. Along the lines of what Hec said. That's not judging, necessarily.
Not a big Spears fan so I was not so impressed with this episode. I like it better when they have a theme and then find disparate songs that fit, rather than this celebrity stunt casting stuff.
Alan Sepinwall interviews the creators of HIMYM, and they admit they fucked up last season.
Especially making Ted such a douche, and also making the season so "sitcommy" filled with schmuckbait, with no advancement of emotional arcs for the characters. So they won't do that again.
I love when Brian Williams shows up on
30 Rock.
Fun cameo on Community from
Drew Carey
!
I hope Jesse saw 30 Rock tonight. Both it and Community were awesome.

Not to mention songs that fit the singers' voices. I'd like to see Puck do more songs like "The Lady Is a Tramp."
I thought(Guest on Community) looked great.
