vw, you need to set some limits with the students and stick to 'em so they don't make you crazy all semester!
'Life of the Party'
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Inform the secretary that the preferred term is "STI" (sexually transmitted *infection,* rather than "disease").
Ha! If I knew her better I would totally do that. Unfortunately, I think she already finds me annoying, so I'll pass.

Oh, I do, and I am. But, it cracked me up, and I had to share.
Oh, I just got the STD joke.

vw: Aren't students silly?
Yeah. Some of them really are. Then there are the ones that break your heart.
I tend to find that it's the same students. Sigh.
Yeah, that's very true sometimes.
Not really, my marking pen is purple, it's less pejorative that way, I think.
I favour glitter gel pens in a variety of colours (and, occasionally, scents). 'Course, my kids are six, and our marking policy is about as unpurjorative as it's possible to be - we follow the '2 stars and a wish' approach.
(You draw a wee star, and then note something GOOD about the work. And again. [and perhaps again and again, depending.] Then a wee magic wand, and note something that would help their next piece of work be better.)
So, this morning I am experimenting with brown contact lenses. They are not all that comfortable, and I suspect I'll have to take them out pretty soon. Still, I'm very taken with the idea of having wildly different coloured eyes. (They didn't have purple or turquoise in the shop, sadly.)
