Spike's Bitches 37: You take the killing for granted.
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
Just talked with mom. She continues to heal. She finally got them to give her real food and she said she had a great lunch and a decent dinner. She also did 4 laps around the unit, toting her IV pole and other medical machinery. All good news.
She is hoping they will spring her Tuesday or Wednesday. I'm planning on going back up tomorrow night so I will have the get away car at the ready.
I REALLY appreciate everyone's good wishes and support. It means a bunch. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
I made workout pants. Now that I know I can do it, I need to get more cord, and I can make 2 more pairs. Slightly irritatingly, I did not buy enough fabric for full-length, so they're capri-length, unless I add on a stripe at the bottom. Still debating that one.
Hooray for productivity.
{{{Anne}}} I'm so sorry for your loss.
TCG and I finally went out last night to celebrate our engagement and had a very nice dinner. Today we went to Mom's house for a huge meal, which I shouldn't have eaten because I had an awful stomach ache this morning, but it was yummy. It was a good weekend.
You should both have post-and-grade get-togethers. You could snark at the essay answers. Okay, that's probably not ethical. But it'd be funny.
GF and I met with the designer for our bathroom remodel yesterday. We are excited! We picked out some really pretty striped (more organic looking - not a symmetrical stripe) tile in shades of blue, gray, and beige for shower & floor, and a nice sink with a low-profile cherry wood base. He is drawing up a design and we meet again next Saturday to finalize the details. It's going to be more than we anticipated, but worth it because this company does it all - no need to deal with a million people. Also, we have friends who just remodeled their kitchen with this company and were thrilled with the results. Yay new bathroom!!
Liese, oh so tempting.
I'm waiting in line to catch the tram to my corner of the parking lot. The fair was fun; I'm glad I came. I have a nostalgic live journal post about this subject brewing, but I won't inflict it on all of you.
I stewed some tomatoes the other day, added in some ground beef, thinking this would make a good chili base. The tomatoes were too watery for this to work. So today, we drained the liquid out. The tomato broth became the base of a veggie soup that is on the stove now. And the beef and tomato meat/mush will be the chili base. So I diced up some green chilis we got at the same farmers' market we got the tomatoes at. Four chilis. And now, in spite of several bouts of handwashing, the thumb and forefinger that pulled the seeds and membranes out of the chilis are burrrrrrrnnnnnnning.
Suzi, she could go home Tuesday or Wednesday? That's crazy! They replaced an organ!! Surely you should get like, some extra time for that? Madness!
I am ensconced at a friend's house, using her wireless. Yay, wireless. But OMG, a week from now I will be in Seattle, and having to go to sleep because I'll be starting work the next day. AAACK!
But you don't sleep in a hospital. She will get more rest at home, once they make sure everything else is ok.
When I came home tonight, our neighbors had us over for dinner. We have lived here 10 years and this was a first. It was nice.
Anne, my sympathies...
(again, with my friend the canning and latke fairy)
A most excellent fairy to have. Especially with your backyard.

Great news! I am always amazed at how quickly people can get a NEW ORGAN and be up and about and out of the hospital but it's wonderful news!
But OMG, a week from now I will be in Seattle
But, OMG, in the PNW! You'll be here!
