I didn't end up responding to the diamond ring conversation a couple of weeks ago, because we had just gone ring shopping the day before. TCG ended up having my mother's diamond from my father reset in a beautiful old fashioned looking white gold setting. My father passed away when I was young, and my mother is remarried and, therefore, doesn't wear her original ring anymore. I knew we were getting it, but he still got down on his knee in the middle of the parking lot. It was so sweet. I gave him a nice money clip with his initials on it as an engagement present.
