I was never sure how much you knew, and how much you allowed. It could have been you thought you were vanilla, because you needed it to be that way, and you had a tight clamp on even your desired proclivities. Or you could have been lying.

And by "you" I don't mean to accuse you, Steph, of lying. Just that those are the opposite boundaries I draw in scenarios like that--consciously unaware all the way to consciously aware and never going to admit it.

Either way, it's cool when you become comfortable with how you roll.

We couldn't really settle at any show, but I did catch a bit of "Richard III: Just Misunderstood."

I have to say I was a little let down by the Faire (or I guess in MD it's RennFest). It's more county fair than historical immersion now; I don't know if fewer people work at the RennFest or if there are more attendees (it was packed), but we stayed all day and had only one encounter with a cast member (when Mal tried to run in front of the King's procession). There was one turkey leg booth, but many places to get churros and fried oreos. Only about 1-2% of people were in costume, even counting the hideously innappropriate costumes (one guy was wearing Vans, knee-length cargo pants, a wife-beater, and a Spartan helmet). Even counting the people in normal (for goths) clothes with tails.

Anyway, it was crowded, so I guess they are doing all right economically. I just miss the RenFaires of my youth. Get thee away from mine lawn, knave.

About the 4,000th time you announced you were vanilla I suspected something might be up...

(Just teasing. People come to things in their own time. Except this one guy I went to college with, Skip... who was studying musical theater... in Greenwich Village... we pretty much dragged his little twink ass out of the closet sophmore year because it was getting annoying. "Dude, we're not going to call your parents and tell them, but quit the crap with us.")

Today is so not a Monday. Thank God for that.

GC, how's the situation going?

He is in a private room now, out of the ICU. He is depressed and pissy, but physically doing pretty well. There hasn't been any fallout after the surgery, which was the big concern. We are going over there tonight after work to see him. Thanks for asking :)

That sounds pretty remarkable, GC.

GC, I'm glad he's seems to be recovering. My grandfather always got depressed and pissy and then they would discharge him - his doctors always took it as a sign of getting back to normal.

So, anyone with experience with the credit bureaus? (Equifax in particular?) They're claiming my DOB doesn't match my SSN...which is an issue I supposedly fixed with them two years ago. They'll send me a credit report by MAIL if I send them photocopies of my social security card and a few other things...but I need to figure out WTF is going on NOW, since NOW is when people are checking my credit for apartments...and I won't be at my mailing address two weeks from now!

I deal with them a lot and the answer is...exactly what Kristin said. Have them put a note in the file so that people looking at the report will know that it's an issue that's had to be resolved before, and just keep fixing it everytime it pops up.

It's really crappy when it happens to people who have to prove they've paid off collections or an account isn't theirs. (Not that it isn't crappy for you too, but the amount of paperwork they have to keep track of is crazy).

I prefer to think of it as obfuscating. Heh.

I definitely never thought I was vanilla; it was more that I never expected to actually go from merely thinking about it (and, okay, reading about it [thank you, Amazon]) to actually *doing* it. And that had a lot less to do with the fact that it was kink and had MUCH more to do with the fact that for a very long time, I had boatloads of Good Catholic Guilt(TM) about being sexual in ANY way.

Well, if it helps, there *was* liberation in the sense of actually getting past my scaredy-cat-ness to stop reading about it and actually *do* it. As well as the liberation of being able to own it and talk about it with all y'all.
