I don't have dehydrated cats. My cats have a special source of extra water available to them whenever I am at home. They feel that the water in my drinking glass is far more delicious than anything I put down for them on purpose. Therefore, I am always shooing cats away from my water, complaining about the flavor of cat spit, and getting myself a fresh glass. I think they're into the entertainment factor.
Also I learned that if I put down an extra water bowl, say, in the living room, it gets more visits than their regularly scheduled water bowl.
Our cat Annie had a thing about drinking out of glass. Once my sister substituted an old pyrex measuring cup for her water bowl she was a lot happier but I still caught her with her whole head inside the water glass next to my bed more than once. Cat germs don't bother me too much (I have been known to share a caramel apple pop with Annie) it was her drinking the water from the xmas tree stand that gave me the squick.
Katie! Nice to see you.
I keep water around for the cat but have seen her drink from the toilet like a dog. She gets dry food. She is still in Florida and spends a lot of her time outside. I image she drinks from the lake too.
Ugh. Plunging not a good way to spend time.
I have a friend whose cats really only wanted running water -- she actually used to run the bath in a trickle for them.
Then she bought them a water fountain. They love it.
up early ate breakfast 'til 11. ( okay so I hung out at the cafe) garden a little cam ein to coll off. I sad I was going to garden more, but - want nap.
I am going to garden more. good for me.
then maybe a nap
Mom's cat does the same thing, so she always fixes a glass of ice water for both of them.
I keep meaning to get a water bottle for my bedside, because I like to drink water before bed, but Anna will knock over the cup to get to the water.
percey liked running water - but our bathroom sink didn't work.( low faucet , shallow bowl) so we had a glass by the sink. now, he can't really jump - so there is a tall ceramic thing - maybe a vase, maybe a spoon holder fo r a kitchen that he uses. anything more like a glass is better. Ask me why we use waterbottles
When I'm sick I want my mommy. No mommy substitutes shall be accepted. This usually means I get left alone when I'm sick since Mom lives too far away to just hop over and rub my tummy.
Ima doing well, Beverly. I got a bike for my birthday, and I am painfully re-acquiring "bike butt" because, ouch. Somehow that was never a problem when I was a kid.
Gracie, OTOH, not doing all that well. I'm getting tired of cleaning up after her beside-the-litterbox messes and the way she flings her food all over the room, which attracts the ants. Tired of the altercations she provokes with her peers. Tired of her stepping on my face at night on her way to my water glass.
I'm actually looking forward to the day I no longer have her in my care. Not quite ready to have her put down, but.... maybe enough is enough for this particular rescue. One good year.
I don't wanna be left alone while I'm sick. I want anxious caretakers hovering over me, offering chicken soup and ginger ale, foot rubs and books and extra blankets.
