Ok, I think my allergy-ick may have morphed into sinus infection territory. [spoiler-font for grossness] I got green and orange-ish goop coming out of my nose, almost total blockage except when I am drinking or eating something steaming, and things taste weird. I made homemade chicken soup for dinner, and did not like it because it had a metalic undercurrent to the flavor - everyone else at the group home said it was great (except for the guy who refuses to add water to his condensed chicken noodle soup on the grounds that the water makes it too salty).

what a crazy day. First the new office manager was bugging me to turn in my contract signed. The contract is what we call "the money memo" It tells you the new pay rate, the end date of the season, and always ends with the "you can quit or be fired for no reason, so this isn't binding for anything" crap. So I never sign it. They still pay me. New gal didn't know this. So she's bugging me, and I say "I don't sign it, as a passive/aggressive protest to the crappy pay". Oops. She tells my boss I have an issue with the wording. My boss tells the Managing Director we should have a meeting to go over the contract. Oops. In the meantime, I got an e-mail from Houston saying he'll be in contact with applicants in 3-4 weeks.

Then, as I'm running around dealing with two shows, a studio upgrade, and the small theater's booth getting upgraded, the power goes out for the block. Which means a lot of running around turning off and unplugging gear so it doesn't pop when the surge of power comes back on, plus turning off all the UPS's so they don't drive everyone batty with the batteries beeping.

When the power comes back on, it's a mad dash to run around the building again and plug everything back in, and reset the computer systems that are always on. I then go back and catch up in the studio, since we have a recording session... like NOW. AArrgh. Then, as I'm waiting for the CD to burn, I get a frantic call to fix the keyboards on the show for tonight. O ya, and there is the group from the local University (whose fancy dancy mixer we are borrowing) wanting a little tour of the system. I'm afraid, it wasn't the best of tours. But they did take me out for some grub. So while a frantic day, it ended ok, I suppose.

Much skipping as a result. Sorry to say a lot of it was the cool christianity conversation. Love you guys! I still love the thought that Catholics aren't Christians (I laugh as a reformed Catholic).

Eh not horribly surprised. Seriously. The most visible people in the media are usually the ones either scaring people, or claiming God is on their side, or the ones being caught for illegal shit. In some ways it's kind of like the government. The difference is that in religion the aim is to have faith in the higher power. In government... I don't think anyone has any faith in the jackass behind the wheel.

So, Tree Day became Tree Days (but not T'ree Days, just Two), but now I'm back at work. I've got another new kid this morning, taking my total up to 20, at which (theoretically) it will stay.

I think every week should have a holiday on Wednesday. Forever. Yes indeed. (Just Wednesday, not Thursday. I'm not greedy!) Happily, as I was available I went and met my friend's daughter at the airport on Wednesday. Now that was interesting, as I'd never seen her, and she'd never seen me, and I just knew I was looking for someone in her early 20s who looked vaguely like a younger, more Arabic-looking version of my friend. And SHE totally wasn't expecting to be met, so I had to be damn sure and not miss her. Anyway, it all worked out nicely, and we had 2 days of doing touristy things in Bangkok - went to the Grand Palace (which is just amazing) and to the Night Market and to the lie-down-on-the-reclining-chair-with-silk-blanket-and-pillow swanky cinema del swanky to watch The Bourne Whateverthefuckitisnow, got groceries, looked into sorting out her next travel plans...generally we did a lot of achieving. We even got pirate supplies for our weekend on the island of Koh Samet where we're going to celebrate another friend's birthday in Pirate fancy dress! Well done us!

Regarding the Bourne movie - Holy Crap, I realised while watching it that Julia Styles looks remarkably like SA. I mean, refuckingmarkably. Especially when she coloured her hair - then it was kind of freaky.

My other Bourne movie remark is that the directof of photography was Oliver Wood. Which just begs fanfic. BEGS.

Oh! Before I forget, I would pay good hard cash to see JZ and her Ren Faire chums talk filthy marital sex to piss off the assclowns who kicked Teppy's group out of their pub. Assclowns.

See, as a non-Christian it's difficult to see why some texts got included and others got kicked to the curb, so adding them later seems fair enough. (And indeed from a Jewish POV the whole New Testament is suspicious extra books that got added to 'The Book', for that matter.)

But that is a whole can of worms that I probably don't want to get into, really - I've been reading a lot about comparative religions lately, and it's hard to get out of that headspace. Er. Yes. Salad shooters! Corsets! Duct Tape!

Catholics include the Apocrypha in their Bibles. I've lost track of what status they accord them relative to the 66-book canon, though.
