It was unbelievably amazing how much easier parenting got after Emmett was 4 1/2. So many of those thesholds had been crossed, most importantly - some basic grasp of causality. The ability to not only communicate but say "this equals that" was huge.
The water/sewer utility out here charges an 80% surcharge on your bill. Sometimes, the surcharge is more than the bill.

HUGELY extenuating. And, speaking COMPLETELY out of my field of expertise, it strikes me as a good thing that she's got something to control, you know? Her world has gone a bit topsy-turvy these last few months and rather than be a little doormat about it or get depressed she's all "Yeah? You can't make this change. It's up to me."
