Well, Maryland was a Catholic Colony, no? I'm guessing it has something to do with that.
My Sunday sucked. Well, the Packers and the Seahawks won, so that was good...
except MY Eagles lost to said Packers, which made Sunday bad. Eh. It's just football. Still sad that Eagles lost. At least the Yankees won!
ION, listening to the Congressional hearings this morning, was anyone else angered by the MoveOn.Org ad saying:
Today, before Congress and before the American people, General Petraeus is likely to become General Betray Us.
It's one thing to report and say "You betrayed us" after the fact, but to pre-empt and call him a Betrayer... I dunno. I having issues with that. The word Betrayal in regards to a service person has pangs of Treason, and I think that's an unfair lob. I dunno. I'm all against the crap in Iraq, but I also have issues with attacking those who serve our country (ya, my life is one big dichotomy... the joys of being a Libra I guess).
I had a bad sports weekend. Just when I was thinking how nice it was to have college football again after baseball broke my heart, Auburn had to go and wreck its season in embarrassing fashion. I guess that's the sportsgods' revenge upon me for being so amused when UM lost to App State.

From what I know, he has an excellant reputation among soldiers who have worked for him. I really, really hope he says/does the right thing. I still haven't forgiven Colin Powell for not standing up when he should have.
I agree. At least he said "I ain't do this anymore" and stopped working with the administration.
Don't even talk to me about Rex Grossman.

Well, the facts he's given so far about the success of the surge have been widely disputed. He's reported a 75% drop in civilian deaths, but critics have argued that's because the military stopped counted civilian deaths from bombs as being part of the insurgency - or something like that.
Don't even talk to me about Rex Grossman.
Wouldn't dream of it; too busy still grooving on the Pats excellent opening day.

Unlikely, given that the "Petraeus Report" was authored by the White House. But one can hope.

Also, he published an editorial shortly before the '04 election arguing that things were going well in Iraq, which was rather unprecedented and strongly suggests he was trying to aid Bush in the election. And he's agreed to one TV interview - on Fox. So it looks pretty clear he has a partisan agenda.
