Spike's Bitches 37: You take the killing for granted.
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
The name un-change is moving apace...as is evidenced by Beej now coming to you as bonny fides. (for purposes of address, the 'fides' need not be included)
It's delightful how easy the transition has been over the past few days. There has also been a good deal of validation for the rightness of the choice...which might be more about having caring people around me than it actually being technically good choice, but I suppose, in the end I win either way.
ION, the two week swelling in my ankle seems to have been vanquished by Aleve (tm) and a compression bandage. More win! And time to get back to walking, given the Marathon is only 7 weeks away. gulp
Thanks for the switch-assist ita. That was fast!
eta: because swift and switch do not equal swith.
Teppy, how's your back doing? Better, I hope.
It feels a lot better today. Yesterday it was the kind of back-thrown-out pain where it's more or less fine if I'm standing or lying down, but the pain comes in the transition -- like sitting down, sitting up in order to stand up, etc. *That* caused the gasp-in-pain response.
Today, it just feels sore, like it would if I had worked out too hard or something. I can go from sitting to standing and vice versa without that gasp-in-pain type of pain. So, improvement.
I'm still downing ibuprofen like it's M&Ms, though.
Glad it seems to be improving for you, Steph.
Bonny, I think it's good you are reclaiming your name. Good luck in the marathon. I think it's really impressive.
Damn mosquitos are biting me. I am inside. This is so wrong.
Yay marathon! Yay better back!
My Sunday sucked. Well, the Packers and the Seahawks won, so that was good, but I had what I think was food poisoning. Either that, or I'm allergic to Fernet, and that would be a tragedy.
meara, I LOVE the tattoo! A friend of mine who is moving from here to Portland, OR in a few weeks is getting a MD flag adaptation tattoo this week (at Baltimore Tattoo Museum, actually) along with the words "Made in Mobtown."
OMG, but the maryland flag is so ugly!!!! Please tell me it's less ugly in black and white or whatever colors teh friend is getting it in.
Thanks for both the name and marathon encouragement d and Juliana.
It feels good to be doing both at the same time each makes me take a little gasp...ya know?
My surrogate mom told me that she is proud of me for taking 'such a brave step' with this name business. I never thought of it as brave, but if bravery means 'being afraid but doing it anyway', as I believe I've heard...then yeah.
The bigger challenge this week though is helping some friends who are doing IVF. He's leaving town and she needs help taking her injections...so they come to me...their one friend with a feverish needle phobia. Not a dislike...let me be clear about that. It's a full-blown phobe.
But it turns out my control issues trump my fear.
I frankly don't trust anyone to do the job. It's so important and the recipient is dealing with so much both physically and emotionally, I just have to step up.
They had me over on Saturday for the 'dry run.' I watched...and did a run through without the actual needle so I could get positioning and such...all went well...then I had to come home and be sick a little.
Yeesh. The things we do.

I think she's just getting the bars part? Maybe in black. I don't remember.
sitting down, sitting up in order to stand up, etc. *That* caused the gasp-in-pain response.
Yeah, that was my thing too. I could even do yoga poses! But as it was a pulled muscle or something it healed up pretty quick. Glad you're on the mend as well.
I have gone to yoga. Then ate a burrito. Carnitas burrito, to be exact. Yum.
